I apologize if this shows up twice. I was kicked out the first time and this is my first time trying this, so I don't know what happened. Anyway...
Everything I have read about Dissociative Identity Disorder states that there must be personalities who take over, and there must be loss of memory (except in co-consciousness). I recently ended with a therapist (not because of this) who firmly believes I have DID, but my alters are down deep inside. They only came out (to my knowledge) when I called them out, often with much effort. Unless I am subconsciously allowing myself to "pretend", some of my sessions where I acted like a child tended to convince me. However, I have never heard of this before. No memory loss, strange clothes in the closet or any other obvious symptoms. Are "hidden" or non-obvious alters a recognized variant of DID? Elaine (aka looking for answers!)
