I'm a DESPERATE Mom and if I recall, you're a Neurologist?! My son is 8yrs. and to try to shortnen
this I'll list his DX's as of today.. okay? (by~the~by)
I realize alot of these fall in/under one another but I'll list then anyways.
1 ADHD
2 ASPERGERS
3 DYSCALCULIA
4 EARLY ONSET ANXIETY(SUSPECT A TOUCH OF DEPPRESSION)
5 SENSORY INTERGRATION DIS.(SEVERE:just try cutting his hair! or not having "THE BEST" cotton sheets, This child actually "smelled" his aunt in the mall... he tracked her down just like a like a blood hound...he found her & I asked if she uses arm & hammer laundry sheets....YUP she does. TOUCH, SMELL, SOUNDS all his "senses" are unbelievably HEIGHTENED.
6 FINE/GROSS MOTOR DELAYS (NEVER COULD DO PUZZLES/LEGOS. WAYYYYY TO frustrating.
7 VISUAL PERCEPTION; He was administered this test and he scored at age....READY? AGE: 4yrs & 3 months!!
(he'll be 9 in March)
8 AND FINALLY AS OF A JANUARY 3rd: COMPLEX PARTIAL SEIZURES!!!!!! His 1st seizure was mainly lower body a little upper and it lasted for 2-3 minutes. In the ER his pediatrician walked him down the hall and his ENTIRE LEFT SIDE WAS PARALIZED!!! HE DRAGGED HIS LEFT LEG AND HIS ARM JUST DROOPED. I took 2 days to regain any kinda strength on the left. Taken off the ritalin and was placed on Tegetrol-300mgs daily. Exactly one week later Jan 10- another seizure! This one was COMPLETELY different his WHOLE body was seizing (sp) and after 22 minutes I called 911 total time of this seizure was 29 minutes & he was brought to the ER and had blood levels done... his teg. level was 7 they upped his dose to 400mgs daily. BUT... he never lost con. and was semi-alert all during the seizures (all together he has had 6 including the "small" ones in the hosp.) After the long "sz" there were no "bodily" or neuro problems. While in the hosp. they did an MRI, ALL posible blood work ups and an EEG. They found a "few" spikes on the right hemisphere. Am I nuts or most of these DX's originating from the right hemisphere????
FYI: 22 hrs of labor ending in a forcep delivery which just for your info: removed a birthmark from, guess where?....THE UPPER RIGHT SIDE OF HIS FOREHEAD!!
We live in New York State and have a connection with Boston Childrens Hosp. Dr. Charles Barlow has agreed to see him. He is "semi retired" but still has an active practice in the hosp and goes every day. One of his associates specializes in seizures. God, am I on the right track?? I feel like I/we are drowning!!!
Got any thoughts on ALL of this??? I just don't know what to think anymore!!!! Oh ya, He experiences "ELECTRICAL SHOCKS" shooting through his head. We attributed these to his trial of Paxil. He has not been on any other meds besides the ones mentioned previously. I asked his Pediatric Neuro. and he said "I dont Know" These shocks don't present as aura's. His are he acts totally INTOXICATED APX 5-10 PRIOR. Just occasionally complains of the pain he describes as shocks.*****WHAT*****???????? they start in the back of his head and go forward to in betweeen his eyes.
ANY INSIGHT SUGGESTION WOULD MEAN SOOO MUCH TO ME AND I CANT EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE FOR READING AND REPLYING!!
