In reply to DEPRESSION...WHAT MED IS BEST, posted by SARA JONES on December 20, 1998, at 22:59:37
> I AM A 24 YEAR OLD COUNSELOR AT A YOUTH DETENTION CENTER. I PASS OUT MEDS EVERYDY TO OUR YOUNG CLIENTS AND I HAVE SEEN SOME CLIENTS WHO HAVE MADE UNBELIEVABLE PROGRESS DUE TO THEIR MEDICATIONS. NOW, I ASK FOR MY SELF...I HAVE RECENTLY DIVORCED AFTER A 5 YEARS AND MY JOB IS VERY STRESSFUL. I AM SICK TO MY STOMACH WHEN I THINK ABOUT GOING TO WORK, AND LAST WEEK I HAVE A PANIC ATTACK FOR THE FIRST TIME. I FEEL SICK ALL THE TIME AND I AM ONLY TRULY HAPPY WHEN I AM ON MY SOFA, HIDING FROM THE WORLD...BUT EVEN THEN I AM WORRIED ABOUT EVERY LITTLE THING.I WANT TO FEEL HAPPIER FOR MYSELF AND MY TWO BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTERS. I AM TOO YOUNG TO BE FEELING THIS OLD. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD I HAVE ADD AND CLINICAL DEPRESSION, BUT WAS UNABLE TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH ANY TREATMENT. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME IDEAS ON WHAT IS AVAILABLE FOR ME????
> THANKS- SARADear Sara,
There are so many medications, as well as other things, that might help you, that I would have no idea of where to begin. There are so many and so many ways of combining them to find a 'recipe' that is just right for YOU, that you really should see an expert in psychopharmocology.
Maybe, one of the doctors who precribes for you could help him or herslf or suggest someone. Or call up the nearest university medical school; they are almost always eager to help. And, if you have not already, get to it. alan
