I'm currently on 300 mg/day (2x wellbutrin 150mg SR) for ADD and Dysthymia, and it is working wonders. I've been reading up on it, checking resources on the internet as well as more conventional sources such as the PDR but I haven't been able to find anything on how it helps ADD. I've talked to people on stimulants for ADD and the Wellbutrin doesn't seem to have the same type of effect. Everyone I've talked to that has been on stimulants has said that they have a much greater ability to concentrate and focus. For me, it's not like that. There were always some times when I _could_ concentrate, it's just they weren't that often and didn't always last that long. What the Wellbutrin seems to do for me is make me feel like that most of the time. I still forget things and misplace things all the time.
So I guess my question is this: Does anyone (Dr's, Molecular Biologists, or anyone else) know how or why bupropion helps control ADD? Any theories would be greatly appreciated. Oh, on a realated topic, does anyone think that bupropion helping people to quit smoking could be related to people trying to use nicotine to self medicate?
Thanks.
