> Have been on too many to count anti depressent drugs for the last 20 years for depression. Latest diagnosis is manic depressive (bi-polar) with only symptoms of the depressive state. Daily to weekly mood shifts, great fatigue and depression.> Currently on wellbutrin and nurontin. The nurontin seemed to help initially, but even with increasing dosages, not seeing any result. Have been on every other type of anti-depressent drug and can't get relief.
> Saw in older "tips" some research on stimulants for this treatment. Does any one know of further studies or treatments? Would feel wonderful to have energy!
Hi.
I'm assuming you have been tried on Depakote, which is less sedating than nurontin. As for stimulants, they can be extremely effective in treating depression when used with good judgment. Ritalin has proven effective with several people whom I see for treatment. However, it never works when used as the only medication for depression. Wellbutrin is currently the expert "consensus". Other possibilities would be multiple antidepressant treatment with a mood stabalizer. Such as Effexor, Wellbutrin and Ritalin.
I hope this was helpful.
