diet med for GAD?

Posted by Nancy Schimelpfening on August 27, 1998, at 9:38:25

Dr. Bob,

Since March I've been using St. John's Wort plus Gingko Biloba for my depression. These work well, by the way. About a month and half after starting these, I began using something called the ECA stack to help with weightloss. This is a combination of ephedrine, caffeine, and aspirin. After a while I began to notice that my GAD was much better. I attributed this to the St. John's Wort at first. Then, I stopped taking the ECA stack and my GAD suddenly was back. Could these drugs, which are stimulants, have helped my GAD? Perhaps it's a similar phenomenon to Ritalin, which is a stimulant to normal people, helping calm kids with ADHD?
