The Kingdom of Heaven and the Messiah

Posted by Sigismund on June 23, 2008, at 20:06:54

When Jeus spoke about the Kingdom what do you think he meant?

A state of mind?
A physical place?
Something that is likely impossible for me (certainly) to put into words?
A new beginning on earth?

This ties in with another thing I've wondered about.
When did the idea of a Messiah come into Judaism?

I can't answer on the Messiah question. I think you will need a good theologian for that. Here is my little 'rap' about possible realities after we die. I first admit, I think science can and will eventually answer part of that question, and if our Creator wanted us to *specifically* know he/she would have given us the knowledge. Science, religion, logic, reason, I think can and do fit well together, despite the critics. After all, science makes the distinction between brain and mind. If we can never destroy matter, and what of it we are composed of when we die, what happens to it? Okay...and a question with a question....sorry.

Best I can do...

I once had it explained to me scientifically and it made perfect sense. Something about energy and element being eternal, and at the time of resurrection they come back together, inseparably connected, and can never be separated again. How many things do you know that are inseparably connected?

I enjoy reading articles on Wikipedia. Some titles I recommend are "Plan of Salvation", Degrees of Glory, Celestial kingdom. Even Google it for some interesting reading.
