Prayer request?

Posted by Spector on April 5, 2005, at 21:56:29

Is it OK to post a prayer request here? It seems like it from the search I did, so I will go ahead.

I am in the 30th month of a severe depression with crippling anxiety. It has virtually incapacitated me and forced me to leave my home, my dear husband and my life as a painter to move back into my mother's home for full time care.

This depression was triggered by being prescribed a stimulant by a psychiatrist who believed I had mild symptoms of ADD. The drug immediately triggered a relapse into manic depression that had been in complete remmission for over 13 years. The hypomania lasted five months despite discontinuing the drug -- Adderall -- and was quickly followed in Nov. 2002 by the unspeakable depression that I am still in today.

I cannot list every treatment we have tried. But there have been many many drugs plus other conventional treatments (ECT, CBT), as well as a large number of alternative treatments which I did very intensely.

Nothing has helped. And some treatments and some people have hurt. Badly.

I am now relying on time, Nature, God and prayer. I want to live SO badly. I want to return to my home and my husband and my painting more than anything ever ever ever. But the continued wait and ever increasing terror are nearly destroying me. I ask for release from this torture very soon. And I would like to ask anyone out there who can to help pray for that with me. My first name is Nomi. Thank you. Thank you.

Nomi

In faith I pray for your safety, and your delivery from this monster than holds you bound. Cling to your love of life and your hope in Christ. Cast your burden upon His shoulders, and look toward the light of His peace. Rely on the angels among us to watch over while you do all you can to pull yourself up and over your huge obstacles. These are not pillows, they are DEAD blocks to our reality, but together we can push through them.

" Heavenly Father, I pray right now for this woman. You see the anguish and the pain in her heart. Lord, it is too much for her to carry. She is crying out to you to deliver her from this pit. I pray right now, that you would begin to lift this depression/oppression from her. That you would FILL HER HEART and mind with HOPE AND PEACE and JOY. I pray that you would remove ANY attack over her mind that is causing her to feel hopeless or worthless. I pray right now that she would begin to see hope in this situation. She would cling to you through this and get to know you in a new and more intimate way.
I pray that you give her family patience, compassion, and understanding as she walks through this. That you would protect her family from any harm or division that might come to try and destroy this marriage and family.
Be with her now in a way that only YOU can be. Wrap your loving arms around your daughter and let her know that you are indeed there, that you have seen her tears, heard her prayers, adn you will answer her cries. Thank you Lord for being so faithful to us and being so good to us despite ourselves. Amen."

I don't know where you are in your faith but I wanted to share a verse with you that meant so much to me when I was walking where you are:

" I will care for my survivors as they travel through the wilderness. I will again come to give rest to my people. Long ago the Lord spoke and said, " I have loved you with an everlasting love. With an unfailing love I have drawn you to myself. I WILL REBUILD YOU. YOU WILL AGAIN BE HAPPY AND DANCE MERRILY WITH TAMBOURINES." Jeremiah 31

I don't know why God often requires us to walk THROUGH the wilderness like He does, but trust me when I tell you, He won't leave you there. He will get you safely to the other side. You will look back on it and see how you survived it because of His faithfulness and it will be a testimony of God's goodness.

Keep hanging on and don't give up hope! Nothing is too big for God.

Spriggy, thank you so much for this heartfelt prayer for me. I have already read it many times over. There is a conviction in your words that I am in great need of. It is there through out the whole post, but I felt it most particularly in your lines near the end where you speak of your sureness that God will not leave me in this terrifying wilderness, that He will get me safely to the other side.

Yes, I have never ever felt the depth of darkness, terror and hopelessness that I am consumed with now. But your words are a comfort and a great reminder. Thank you so much for taking the time to provide that for me.

With love,

Nomi

Dear Nomi -

Your pain is so raw -- I can almost touch it.

I'm an artist too, and, like you, I've dealt with depression in my life. Mine used to cohabit with bulimia... for 21 years. I know the weight of despair. and hopelesness.

I know that fear of never getting out from under that weight... being in that hole. No light penetrating.

Oh, Lord God - you know your daughter's pain. You know her heart - you hear her crying out to You. In Your mercy, I ask You to comfort her - right now, as she sits, or stands, or sleeps... touch her in a way that she knows it's YOU - unmistakeably You.

Insulate her, carry her, bring her from here, where she finds herself, to the place You created her to be. Bring her to You - to know You as You are... show her the person You lovingly designed and created her to be. The fullness of who she is - a daugher of Yours - FULL of brightness, light and creativity that reflects YOU!

I ask You to go to the dark places within her - go with her. Show her the wounds there, and the deceptions that lie within the wounds... lies about herself, about You, about life around her -- lies she's had whispered to her, lies she believes without even knowing them to be lies ... for to her they feel sickeningly true.

Allow her to face those wounds -- those places of great pain. Just one last time. With You right there. Then, One who is Light itself, One who is Truth itself, replace those lies with Your truth -- let her see herself, You, and all of life through Your eyes. Let her be set free from the torment of the lies, and to walk freely in the truth...

Forever...

Free to be Yours...

Free to be who You designed her to be ...

Free to be true to that self, unafraid of what others might think or limit her to...

Free from rejection, as she's safe in the identity You give her...

Free from her past, as You've redefined it...

Free from anxiety, for she's in Your hands...

Free from despair, for in You is boundless hope...

Free from regrets, for in You is limitless forgiveness...

Free from the darkness, for You ARE Light...

Yes, God, in Your mercy, do this for Your child, my sister...

Amen.

Shalom, Dena
