Ever Experience Something Like This?

Posted by Phillipa on February 27, 2005, at 17:12:18

Here goes, I don't Post here, but lately I've been thinking about what once happened to me. Years and years ago my daughter was a baby and was in and out of the hospital. She had surgery on an infected neck gland and wouldn't eat. At this point she was very spoiled in re to food as she was born hyper and projectile vomited all her feedings for a year and a half. Anyway, she was in the hospital and I went home to sleep and my husband, at the time, went and slept with her. Well, i drank 3 beers so I could sleep, and woke up [I think] and Jesus was in my room. It was him in an off white robe looking at me and commumicating without talking the message "be strong". Thought nothing about it until the same thing happened that night. I returned to the hospital that day and said to myself "if she wants to get well she will", and didn't stress myself anymore about her eating. That day she started to eat and get well. It's been so long and each night I ask Jesus to come to me with a message. The other night I woke up in the am with the strong message that I'm not depressed, just bored. Do you think these were messages from Jesus or just my subconscious. This is not something I discuss with just anyone as they will think I'm crazy. Any thoughts? Thanks, Fondly, Phillipa

Well Phillipa,

I am a Christian and I do believe that sometimes, Jesus/God does chose to tangibly reveal Himself to people.

I don't care what anyone else says, I know for a fact that TWICE in my life, God Himself directly spoke to me. Once was more a "prophetic" type thing (that did come to pass by the way), the other was a time when I needed comfort and was seeking Him to reveal Himself to me.

There will be some taht will try to convince you it was just your mind or the beer, but go with your gut on this one.

If you had been seeking God for answers, and this happened, it was His way of letting you know HE IS THERE, HE DOES CARE, and He does love you.

Jeremiah 29:12

" When you seek me with your whole heart, I will be found by you."

And here I had been brought up without any Religion. My parents wouldn't bring me to Church. I started to get Spiritual when I first read The Road Less Traveled. From there I used to get books at the Edgar Cacey Institute in Va Beach when on vacation. But, I know it was real. It allowed me to again start taking just 5mg of valium a day [I had previously tried self detox] and accept the fact that yes, this was an extremely difficult child as the staff had told me at Yale New Haven Hospital. This was when she had developed a hernia in the pediatrician's office when he said he wanted to see what happened if we let her cry. She was up 24hours a day as an infant. Today she is a 3lyr old married last Spring. I know it happened, I just wish it would happen again. It was so profound. Fondly, Phillipa

Phillipa,
You wrote,[...do you think these were messages from...or just my subconcious..?].
In my faith experiance, the messages were spiritual messages, not physical as in auditory hallucinations. Could a deaf person "hear" messages?
Is the question by you, were the messages spiritual? If so, then I could say that IMO that the messages could have the potential to have been spiritual. But are the messages from God, or from your subconcious? Could there be a test?
Could spiritual messages be different from the character of God, or could they be out-of-character of God? And then, what is the character of God?

Phillipa,
You question,[...from my subconcious or spiritual message?...], could be looked at inthe following way.
Let us suppose that the message is spiritual and not physical as in an auditory hallucination. If the message was physical, could it come from your subconcious? Also , if the message was from your subconcious, is there a limitation as to what the message could be because it came from your subconcious? If so, was the message beyond what the subconcious could be?

Phillipa,
Could the subconcious predict a future happening? If not, was the message of such that there was in it something that was fullfilled in the future?

Those are questions that a mortal really can't answer, in my opinion. I only know, that I don't know if I was awake or in some altered state. My memory saw an apparition in the room, not standing, kind of in the air? of Jesus looking at me with eyes relaying the message "Be strong." Now, the first time I thought it was maybe a dream, and as I was brought up without Religion, I never gave it a second thought. But the second time, the next night, it changed how I looked at everything. I accepted that there was a Power far greater than I or my daughter, and that I was powerless to change how events would unfold. She began eating, I relaxed[no not the valium my attitude], she went home, and when she fell down from weakness upon our arrival home I just helped her up and went about my business. Is it Spiritual or God? To me, and that is my belief, they both go hand and hand like a horse and carriage. The bottom line she was well, and I was relaxed and able for the first time in l l/2yrs to care for her without being extremely anxious. Fondly, Phillipa

Dear Phillipa
I believe the Lord does occassionaly visit us
in the spirit realm ( we "see" with our spiritual eyes) in times of great need and extreme stress.

It could very well have been what you needed at the time...to give you the added strength to go on.

It has beenmy experience that these visits happen very infrequently....so consider yourself blessed !

I would suggest ministering angels. God answers many a prayer by delegation to ministering angels. Heaven is an organized place and everyone there is put to good work. We don't just sit around playing harps worshipping God. Righteous people who die may become ministering angels. Some are resurrected beings, other ministering angels are waiting to be resurrected. I would describe righteous as a person on earth who accepts the contracts and constitutions as outlined in the Bible and lives them to the best of his or her understanding. If we want to some day be a ministering angel we should prepare by living as well and as good as we can according to our personal understanding today.

Definition of "today" the day for men to prepare to meet God.

Hi Phillipa.

I think your approach to the situation is wonderful. You seem to have been able to meld the intellectual with the spiritual. That's not always easy.

I think your faith has made you stronger.

Thanks Scott, It's really hard to understand, and you want to. You also want to believe what happened was real as you have not had religion in your life and need to believe in an afterlife, especially when you are getting older. How often I wish that I had been born to parents who taught me to have faith. Unfortunately I wasn't, and have been searching all my life for something to have faith in. Not just think that when you die they just bury you and that's it. Fondly, Phillipa
