Would any Psycho-Babble members care to comment?

Posted by SLS on December 19, 2022, at 13:34:26

This website belongs to only one person, and it is neither me nor you.

If your anger and embarrassment impel you to continue to boycott Psycho-Babble, then go in illness, but go in peace.

Perhaps attrition en masse will have its advantages to this website - when the juvenile armchair pseudo-neuroscientists are replaced by adults looking for ways to help themselves and others to free themselves from the darkness of their prisons. Studying and talking about neuroscience while living in a state of depression can be fun and rewarding. However, it can become very addictive because there is no reward to replace it. The result is a tunnel-vision that obscures the goal. They forgot to keep thier eyes on the prize - remission.

By the way, studying and talking about neuroscience in the absence of depression is orgasmic. I like my orgasms.

I plan to correspond with the owner of this website. I think you should, too.

I miss the olden days when there were dozens of daily active members on PB.

I think that many people are now going to places like Reddit for information about psychiatric medicines.

But PB still has the greatest expertise, in my opinion.

Sorry, stepping back after a few weeks. I have no idea what's going on here.

Can somebody explain the issue to me in three words or less?

On second thought...I don't care.

Let's not take this all too seriously folks.

Expertise in what?

What Linkadge said! Let's all chill and watch some Monty Python, or something.

Jay.

I'm surprised at you.

* What is it that we shouldn't take all to seriously?

Linkadge didn't answer this very simple and direct question after he made his comment.

Will you? Please. What are you talking about?

I don't see many recent posts that don't have "SLS" affixed to them. Could it involve him?

Stop being cryptic. It is counterproductive to the pursuit of mental health.

Is there anything else you would like to talk about?

No, Jay.

You are wrong. I have a doctor. I talk to him regularly. The last time I I spoke to him was 3 weeks ago. He knows my status. You don't have to. Thank you.

Am I your patient?

You should not diagnose people without seeing them face-to-face. Isn't there something unethical about doing that? Are you a licensed psychiatric medical doctor?

You can't even bring yourself to mention the name of the person you are referring to. Maybe that makes it okay. I'm not a lawyer. Still, when was the last time someone on Psycho-Babble offered a diagnosis to the rest of the community to explain someone else's behavior?

Stop being so coy.

What do you think about the use of Effexor intermittently as a PRN? Do you encourage it? Do you discourage it. What would you tell a friend who you watched pulsing Effexor like this. What have you done to help this person recently? What has been your advice to him?

Get real.

Say what you mean.

Jay, it is obvious to me that I don't belong here anymore, so you won't have anything to run away from much longer such that you will be compelled to watch Monty Python.

Your comment is unethical and disappointing. You should know better.

Why are your comments necessary, anyway? What do you find so upsetting?

Just don't read posts from people who you know upset you. If you do feel you are doing Psycho-Babble a public service by commenting, then let's just get it over with.

Teach me a lesson. I certainly have been working hard to teach lessons. What do you think of my efforts?

Show some courage, and stop talking behind people's backs - "Hypomania". Talk *to* me.

Hypomanics sometimes write a lot and show intense emotion - usually anger and rage. They also demonstrate inflated egos. Is this what drove you to your diagnosis? That's quite a trick.

I remain indignant.

I put it all out there. I took hours to put my "last post" together. If you can't bring yourself to read it, at least respect the intent.

Not clever.

If you want to comment, then comment on my "last post". Have you read it? What did you think once you finished it?

Lots of anger and indignation in this post, right? Anger is a great motivator for writing copious numbers of words. Do mine have any value to you?

So, if you want to have an honest conversation regarding clinical psychiatry and the treatment of difficult cases of mood illness, you can start by using my name.

Thank you.

Hi.

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20220917/msgs/1121312.html

Has anyone read the whole thing?

For those who have, what did you think of it?

Does it show symptoms of hypomania? If you agree with Jay on this, I could use an explanation of the symptoms you see and quote the passages that exhibit hypomania.

Feedback is always welcome by me. Why is there not a single comment on the content of my posts?

Anyone?

Are you shaken by my message regarding the loss of clinical focus here - the stuff that brings people like me to remmission? Do you not like hearing that you will probably die depressed unless you make substantial changes in your treatment behavior? I don't. Do something about it.

If you lack the ability to think like a clinical practitioner of psychiatry, then pay someone who can.

The reaction and non-reaction of the Psycho-Babble community right now is bizarre - really bizarre. In my opinion, it is even more bizarre than my behavior. I guess my wanting to help old friends who refuse to acknowledge my writings over and over and over and over and over again is bizarre. I know exactly why I did it, and wouldn't change a single word. However, there comes a time when one realizes the futility of their efforts. That time has come for me.

The behavior on this bulletin board probably warrants an evaluation by a sociologist. Does anyone know of any to pay us a visit? It would certainly be instructive.

Thank you for your kind consideration of these matters. Your embrace of sound advice overwhelms me.

Consider the source.

I've said it before, and I still enjoy your anecdotes of your psychopharmacological adventures. I am bothered, however, by the repetitiveness and "preachy" nature of some of the things you write.

> Does it show symptoms of hypomania? If you agree with Jay on this, I could use an explanation of the symptoms you see and quote the passages that exhibit hypomania.

Yes, potentially. The main sign that I feel may hint at hypomania is the quantity and verbosity of your writings all in a short amount of time.

> Feedback is always welcome by me. Why is there not a single comment on the content of my posts?

*Patience*, SLS!

I mentioned it elsewhere, but I've been trying to catch up with Psychobabble for some time, and it's only within the past few hours I've been getting close.

>

Yes. Do you feel better now?

No, but it's starting to get old.

I think the main reason is that some (probably most) of Psychobabble is in a different phase of life than you are. This *may* hint at something being "unusual" about you.

> However, there comes a time when one realizes the futility of their efforts. That time has come for me.

Just what *is* it that you're expecting of us? Enthusiasm about all the things you're writing? Enthusiasm does not come easy if you are in a state of depression, which many of us are. Enthusiasm *does* come easy when you're (hypo)manic.

Thank you for your generous feedback. I experienced a hyperarousal state which resulted from a small decrease in my nortriptyline dosage. My guess is that it was similar to a discontinuation rebound improvement, which I have experienced a number of times in my treatment history.

If I were to rewrite my posts, I would change a great many words, but not the message in my observations and conclusions - not one bit. When someone faults antidepressants for having side effects while they resurrect human consciousness and save lives, I am incredulous. Of course some side effects are unacceptable and intolerable.

Ask someone who chose to save their lives at the cost of 5 weeks of throwing up violently and feeling absolutely miserable. Can we find fault in cancer drugs? To each his own when choosing.

When I report being in remission, give what you read all due scrutiny. Nevertheless, I can live with side effects effects that I can tolerate. I could not tolerate living life without the drugs that produce them.
