Microdoses of meds

Posted by jay2112 on July 1, 2021, at 13:00:39

I think some microdoses of meds have more theraputic benefit, for many, on mental health. I posted my experience above on the 'Amphetamine for Schizophrenia' thread. They are using microdoses of the 'recreational' drugs, like MDMA, and magic
shrooms and such. Here in Canada, you can buy them at 'unlicensed' cannabis shops. (They aren't really legal, but it seems the police turn a bit of a blind eye.) Also, as below, this is not just with 'psychedelic' drugs..but with mainstream prescribed meds.

So, I'd highly suggest trying microdoses of meds, and give it 2+ weeks or so. YMMV, etc....Here is some research..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microdosing

"It is reported that 15 of the 20 largest pharmaceutical companies have now used microdosing in drug development, and the use of the technique has been provisionally endorsed by both the European Medicines Agency and the Food and Drug Administration. It was once expected that by 2010, human microdosing would have gained a secure foothold at the discovery-preclinical interface, driven by early measurement of candidate drug behavior in humans and by irrefutable economic arguments."

I found that 37.5 mg Venlafaxine gave me an effect. Sometimes less is more. Higher doses just gave me more side effects.

I've written here about low-dose naltrexone and ultra-low-dose naltrexone.

And I've written about microdosing phenytoin (Dilantin).

Some scientists believe that everyone should microdose lithium. I've been microdosing lithium orotate and lithium aspartate for years. I recently started microdosing ionic lithium chloride. I like this form the best.

Hi Hugh:

Thanks for pointing out those great posts! I am particularly interested in tiny doses of lithium, as my kidney dysfunction can't take even 150mg of lithium.

Keep trying...that's my motto, I guess. It seems to be a tension between the pull of depression, and the push of anxiety. Sucks though...when the years really go by, we have less time ahead, to find new wonders. Getting old just really sucks.
Jay :(

You're welcome, Jay. I find it fascinating that such tiny doses of lithium can have such profound effects.

I was just reading that EECP (enhanced external counterpulsation) can significantly improve kidney function by improving circulation. I'm interested in trying it, since it can help depression by improving circulation to the brain.

What are you considering "microdoses" of lithium? Used for stabilization or just depression?

When I take 100mg of lithium I feel super dead inside

There are studies that indicate that people can benefit significantly from getting just a few hundred micrograms of lithium per day. Tiny doses can improve mood and longevity and help to prevent dementia.
