This looks promising:

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) Clinic
As of November 2005, the Personality Disorder Service and the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Clinic integrated to form the Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) Clinic. The mission of the BPD Clinic is to improve the lives of people with Borderline Personality Disorder through treatment, education and research.

Here is a summary of the resources currently available through the BPD Clinic:

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): This is a one-year intensive outpatient psychotherapy program for adults (18-65) with Borderline Personality Disorder. It includes one hour of individual therapy weekly, and one two-hour skills group weekly. Anyone with BPD is eligible except those who also have a chronic psychotic or cognitive disorder. The treatment is designed for individuals who are not involved in other primary therapies.

How to refer: We accept self-referral only. Please monitor the outgoing voicemail message at 416 535-8501 ext. 2437 on a monthly basis for information on when the waitlist will next be open.

DBT Skills Training Group This is a 20-week group (two hours, once weekly) that offers DBT skills training to people with BPD. Participants are required to have an outside primary therapist while attending this group.

How to refer: We accept self-referral only. Please monitor the outgoing voicemail message at 416 535-8501 ext. 2437 on a monthly basis for updates on the waitlist status.

Psycho-Educational Support Group for Family and Friends of People with BPD: This is an 8-week group designed to help friends and loved ones of those with BPD develop a better understanding of the disorder, learn skills to improve their relationships and manage stress.

How to refer: Please contact Linda at 416 535-8501 ext. 2437 to register.

BPD Clinic Consultation Service: The consultation service offers a one-time opinion on diagnosis, medications and/or therapeutic approaches for people with BPD. The aim of the consultation service is to improve the skills of health professionals currently treating people with BPD, not to offer further treatment resources.

How to refer: Please phone 416 535-8501 ext. 2437 and request a referral form, which must be completed by a health professional.

BPD Clinic Educational Services: The BPD Clinic offers various courses, workshops and seminars. Please contact Shira Green, MSW at 416 535-8501 ext. 6683 for more information.

Area code 416 is not Ottawa, it's Toronto. I called this place a few years ago and found out they are only in Toronto.

I'm getting upset again thinking that there is no help in Ottawa for people with BPD. Why isn't there any help for us? I think I read that more people have BPD than schizophrenia or bipolar disorder combined. Why isn't there any help for us? Why? Doesn't anyone care about us?

I went searching for psychologist who see people with BPD. I found nothing! They specialize in anxiety or depression and lots of other issues, but no one specializes in BPD.

I even went to the Canadian Mental Health Website to find some information about where to get help for people with BPD and again I found nothing!

No one cares about people with BPD.

I found two places that help family members of those with BPD, but nothing for people with BPD themselves.

Why? I'm getting upset again.

I have written to some mental health groups for you to find out why there is no DBT available in Ottawa. When I hear something back from them I will pass on the information to you.

Hi Deneb, I haven't heard from anyone yet.

I was cleaning my room today and I found my DBT Workbook. I never used it because I did the DBT programme. Would you like the workbook? If you want it just BM me with your name and addy and I will send it off to you. It is the same as the one here: http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/Dialectical-Behavior-Therapy-Skills-Workbook-McKay-Wood-Brantley/9781572245136-item.html?ikwid=dbt+workbook&ikwsec=Home
