tension in the face, anxiety- feeling uncomfortabl

Posted by nickguy on September 25, 2006, at 1:19:09

I realized today at Church (after not taking my usual ativan dose) that it is my face that feels the most tension and anxiety. It's like smiling just feels uncomfortable and my face just feels disconected. I post this just because I'm wandering if anybody else can relate to this. It's interesting because my body didn't feel the anxiety in church, and I didn't really have racing thoughts. Just anxious feelings about my face.

I definitely relate to the feeling of my face being disconnected. It starts suddenly when I am feeling a bit anxious about a social situation and from then on my face just wont react. It makes it very hard to form any rapport with anyone .

Are you taking any serotonergic drugs?

Excess serotonergic activity in certain areas of the CNS can produce bruxism and tightness of muscles of the face.

What dosage of Zoloft do you take? Do you take anything else?

Nickguy I relate to those feelings I find that if I feel a twinge or something somewhere I tend to dwell on it. Maybe that's it? Love Phillipa

My face used to ache. The tension seemed to be in my jaw muscles. It was really uncomfortable. This developed when I was coming off Olanzapine 5 mg. When I switched from cold turkey to 2.5 mg the pain eased. I wasn't grinding my teeth though, I didn't even have my teeth clenched.
