Hello alltogether
After stopping ck1's nardil trial because of sideeffects :-(, I ask the question if there is somebody successfull with Nardil 15mg-30mg bearing the sideeffects?- I suppose it would take a long time to constantly inhibit the MAO synthesis and once this is done sideeffects sould be there anyway.
But perhaps there is an exception doing well on 15-30mg Nardil bearing sideeffects?

Everyone that is currently taking Nardil should have went through the 15 to 30mg stage. This medication needs to be built up slowly in your system to avoid some of the worst side effects. I have never heard of anyone having sufficient MAO inhibition at 15 or 30mg to obtain a robust response. CK1 made a mistake - IMHO - combining Nardil with Adderall before seeing what the Nardil would do by itself. Go slow, change one thing at a time, and research everything you put in your body. Nardil is, in my opinion, the best medication for treatment resistant atypical depression and social anxiety.
Good Luck,
Jedi

Hi Jedi,
Thanks for the info. How much is your dosage now?
How did you start it e.g. slowly? How long was the time you felt the first improvement? What is your experience with food restrictions and what about the sideeffects male (in my case) or woman have, do they fade away by time? Thanks for answering a lot of questions...

Wee Willy,
The reason I Babble-Mailed sdb was because my response was a rehash of my experiences with Nardil posted on Psycho-Babble. If my experiences will help anyone, here is a portion of them:

This list was compiled by Elizabeth; “the guru of treatment resistant depression”. In my experience with MAOIs, I’ve found it to be very accurate.http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20050803/msgs/538306.html

Hi all!
Yes, I think its better sharing the information on the board maybe also the subtle things.
I am not absolutely clear about the sexual sideeffects of nardil. There are different opinions. Maybe many users stopped Nardil because they could not wait longer. But what's the experience of long term users of Nardil? Do these sideeffects fade away?I can also image if you start the Nardil low and titrate slowly it will maybe a bit less hard to bear these side effects.
Thanks for sharing information.

> ... I am not absolutely clear about the sexual side effects of Nardil... But what's the experience of long term users of Nardil? Do these side effects fade away?Hi,
In my opinion the only way to start Nardil and most other psychotropic medications is to titrate slowly up to an effective dose. This can be very difficult because with Nardil, for example, the positive antidepressant effects can take several weeks to emerge after you hit the effective dose for you.
When I first started Nardil I had some orthostatic hypertension. This effect faded away fairly quickly, in my case. The delayed orgasm for me is dose related even after many years on Nardil. There are other medications that can counteract this.(Google Search: sexual, "Chairman MAO", site:dr-bob.org).
The sweet carbohydrate cravings are also dose related for me. Strenuous exercise is the only thing that has reversed the weight gain.
Daytime sleepiness for me has abated over time. It also seems to be dose related and only happens in a minority of Nardil users.
Another side effect, which shows up early in the use of Nardil, is hypomania. If this happens to you, you should talk to your doctor as soon as possible. Some people, who may be bipolar, can have a full blown manic episode manifested by the use of Nardil. I had a mild case of hypomania, and believe me; it feels good when you've been depressed for years. This feeling is usually temporary or can be treated with lithium. Be very careful with hypomania. I know from experience that some financial and personal decisions can be distorted while in this state.
Hope this helps,
Jedi
