Going to doctor tomorrow

Posted by linkadge on July 28, 2005, at 16:02:35

Not sure what to ask for. Perhaps a different TCA than clomipramine. Clomipramine was so anticholinergic that I forgot how to operate the toilate.

Automatic toilate sounds nice!

I'm not completely anti med, I'm just against taking meds that take so much away and gives so little in return.

I want to feel like me. All the meds I take make me feel like somebody else. Like a puppit being pulled this way and that by strings.

Linkadge,

Have you ever tried imipramine? It didn't cause me any fogginess or apathy. Main side effects were anorgasmia, dry mouth and mild postural hypotension.

Link, have you ever tried Wellbutrin? Admittedly, I'm asking you because I think it's my good friend, but it's worth a try if you haven't...

Good luck tomorrow.

Doctor prescribed ritalin ?!

He prescribed ritalin in combination with the clomipramine. Not sure what to make of it.
May send anxiety skyrocketing.

He prescribed 20mg. I don't really know what to do. It has helped in the past, but it has also occasionally caused panic attacks.

Not too sure I want to mix it with clomipramine,
as clomipramine alone gave me heart fluttering.

I am afraid I am going to kill myself.

Linkadge,

You haven't done anything wrong. It is not your fault. You are not being punished by God. Tortured, and in agony, I understand. But it is not your fault.

Please go take a Klonopin. If nothing else, it will get you through a few hours of less pain. And maybe by then, you will not feel so desperate. Did you try the Ritalin? Is that what is causing this? Or is it just the general hopelessness with your pdoc?

Please keep posting. Please let us know you are okay. I've been where you are and I survived and I feel better now. Please, remember, it can get better. It has gotten better for you in the past, remember? It will this time too.

Love,
Marsha

Well, I am still alive. Just so confused. Why is it so hard to treat depression without turning yourself into somebody you don't recognize?

The pills take so much away from me, I don't know what is right and what is wrong.

I bet you spend a lot of time obsessively thinking about meds and different meds and different combinations of meds. I have to stop myself from that or I'll drive myself crazy. I think about all the drugs I've tried (and I've been on meds since 1986) and try to figure out whidch one was better and which more tolerable and how one might be made more tolerable or more effective and before I know it, I feel like none of them will work or none of them is really tolerable and I want to give up.

The thing that is helping me right now is that I have started going to a new pdoc and I feel I was led to him. I have decided to trust him, take the med he rxed and not try to evaluate efficacy or side effects every five minutes.

I know this isn't an option for you since you don't like/trust your doctor. I think it is so important you find a doctor you trust and who will trust your input and your instincts about what has helped you before. If you are constantly second guessing yourself you truly can make everything so much worse. No med will work if I sit and convince myself it won't work. I"m not saying that's what you are doing - it's just what I do.

I think you ought to decide which med was most effective/most tolerable or, based on your research, which med is most likely to help you. Then move whatever mountain you have to to get to a GP and get a script. Take it for a month before evaluating how it's working. Try not to think about it while you're waiting to see.

Easier said than done. I'm on about day three of this policy and we'll see how it works for me. I hope the very best for you, Linkadge. I want you to get well.

Marsha, I have 8 years of legal pads with every med that has entered my mouth and the times I took them. Also a summary of how I felt that day. It got monotonous reading the notes. It did'nt seem to make a difference which meds I took nothing has changed except I'm 8 years older. Fondly, Phillipa

Linkadge,

I want to apologize. This morning I woke up really scared and no matter how hard I tried I could not stop obsessing about meds.

So much for my plan...

Klonopin helped.

Marsha
