Anhedoniaaaaa: Can You Help Please!

Posted by Pluto on January 31, 2005, at 0:48:04

Hello there,

Can anybody suggest a solution for this crippling anhedonia? I can no longer enjoy those things I usually enjoy. Movies, music, food, visiting psycho-babble (I was not even touching keyboard for a month.)Nothing seems to be interesting. Am I losing the grip? Can anyone please suggest a medication for this crappy feeling?
PLS

I would like to know also. Nothing seems to work for me. It's almost like I've experienced so much stress in a short time that my adrenal glands have pooped out. No adrenaline. Phillipa

Tried all of those SSRIs except paxil, on Elavil 75mg at the moment.
Tried sulpiride and had success, but the good effects disappeared after continued use. Somnolence was a big problem with this med. Can't use amisulpride and my pdoc won't prescribe stimulants for me. (Had an addiction problem earlier)
Sulpiride worked great for the anhedonia, but alas! apathy and somnolence were terrible. I am going to stop elavil, because benefits do not outweigh risks now.Elavil worked great for the first couple of weeks and now it has become my problem. Few good effects but a lot of side effects! If there was a way to combat that sulpiride induced apathy and somnolence, it would have been a great med. Do you know how?
PLS

Maybe you should go back on the sulpiride and add Provigil (modafinil) or Wellbutrin.

Too bad more docs don't prescribe opiates - they work great for anhedonia.

How did you manage to find a doc who would prescribe them, and have you had luck with the tolerance problem? Honestly I would like to try Marinol because marijuana works even better for me than opiates but I know that isn't going to happen.

Thanks
