cymbalta is over for me

Posted by lemon68 on January 29, 2005, at 17:09:46

I have stopped taking Cymbalta after having been on it since late Sept., due to a wicked face rash and also not really being thrilled with the results. It took me a long time to put the face rash and Cymbalta together, but since I quit, my face has cleared up. I haven't read of anyone else on this forum having this problem, but it was pretty bad. I also felt a constant anxiety and an inability to concentrate.

So I am back on Effexor XR - yeah, I know, scary to a lot of people, but it was a better drug than Cymbalta, and weaning off of it was no problem, so until I can find something else I haven't tried, I am going to have to go with what I know. I am also taking Abilify, .5 mgs, but I don't really know if this has helped.

drugs suck.

Sorry to hear that the Cymbalta didn't work out. I'm in the same boat in some ways. Will probably start back on Effexor until I can figure out what else to do. At least my anxiety was under control and I was functioning better when I was on it. I just wish there were some easy solution to the lethargy and amotivation I had on it. I was wondering if augmenting with Abilify might be a solution. Are you going to give up on the Abilify or possibly increase your dosage? It's supposed to be activating so I was hoping it might give more energy and drive.

Hi Kara - I'm not sure if the abilify has been helping or not. I have also been taking Klonopin 1 mg 2x daily or as needed, as well as Trazodone at night for sleep, so it's really hard to figure out what's working or not when I changed my drug regimen so radically.

I was thinking that trying to figure out the effects of one particular drug in a cocktail of 4 or 5 is like trying to listen to the same number of radio stations on full blast at the same time and isolating one - it's possible, but it takes time. I don't know if I need to eliminate the klon. and up the abilify to 1mg dly or what.

But I'm kinda my own guinea pig here, like a lot of us on this forum, so it remains to be seen and I will let you know....

cheers
