What's a good med for anxiety? SSRI don't work for me, benzos lose potency(and space me out) and anti-psychotics seem to give me EPS. If this EPS is psychosomatic or not, I don't know, but the risk is too high for me and the sheer fear of the possible dangers of those drugs INCREASES my anxiety.I take lamictal,paxil, and adderal;so it needs to be something that can be taken w/ these meds.

hello, chemist here. if you have taken benzos, buspar won;t work. try nother benzo. your condition, please? all the best, chemist

for anxiety id give neurontin a shot...if that doesnt work, try gabitril. neurontin seems to be less of a problem...since ive started the gabitril ive felt disconnected from reality. at times ive also had difficulty keeping awake. both side effects come and go. im also on paxil and lamictal for depression and ocd.

My depression is primarily dealing w/ an inability
to think, terrible short term memory to the point of "psuedo dementia" and anhedonia. I'm only 21 so
the psuedo dementia aspect is very strange. My doctor is not sure if it's something more similar to a thought disorder(Disorganized Psychosis) thats causing these cognitive problems.But if it were a thought disorder wouldn't I have other aspects of psychosis such as delusions,hallucinations,paranoia? I just don't know, it's very debilitating and torturous.
Anyway, I've tried buspar and actually at times I think it worked but I was so depressed it was hard to tell. I've been on so many meds that I don't even remember why I stopped the buspar. I have to ask the doctor, there must of been some sort of reason.I don't know if taking one of those anticonvulsants would help because most of my anxiety comes from not being able to think straight.I don't want to take something that could possibly worsen the confusion. I'm taking ritalin,lamictal-300 and paxil-10.Some ideas on what this could be and what might help would be really appretiated.

If you haven't tried Neurontin I would definitely give that a shot. At one point my psychopharmacologist thought I had bipolar-2 and suggested Neuorontin for anxiety/depression and mood-cycling. I wasn't that depressed though.
My understanding is that Neurontin has been show by clinical studies to be ineffecitve for treatment of bipolar disorder. However, it worked great on my anxiety.
Other than drowsiness associated with tapering up on it, I didn't have any side effects either.
The other things I could think of would be atypical neuroleptics like seroquel perhaps but that would really be a last resort if you are trying to avoid benzos at all costs.
