Day 3 Picamilon; so far, great!

Posted by Ame Sans Vie on March 23, 2003, at 8:26:16

I just began Picamilon Thursday, at 100mg tid for what I surmise to be social phobia, agoraphobia and panic disorder (Smart Nutrition brand; highly recommend them, best price I've found, and my order arrived in two days, from Los Angeles... don't understand why we're not supposed to offer information on where to get it from if it's legally available in the U.S... am I missing something?). I still haven't had a definitive diagnosis, though I'm certainly more worried about the symptoms themselves than the diagnoses.

Day 1, I didn't really feel any difference from it. Day 2, I noticed a slight decrease in anxiety, but still nothing remarkable. Today though, I woke up feeling much better rested, much less depressed, and with sigificantly less anxiety than usual. I'm pretty impressed... I've never even gotten this degree of relief from clonazepam. And not a single side effect thusfar. I'll definitely be continuing with it, and I'm about to order a bottle of Tranquili-G, a product which contains a precursor to 4-methyl-GHB (similar to GHB, but legal). Expensive at $50 per bottle, but sounds like an attractive option nonetheless.

I'll keep you posted!

Would like to hear how it works for the agoraphobia, this is becoming quite a big problem for me, although Im feeling less anxious I still dread going out and having to talk to people, its the having to look people in the eye thing that scares me!!! Good Luck!

Ame, I love this stuff too. been taking for Social Phobia it for about a month with great results. I do have a few questions, though.

1) How much a day are you taking? How many doses? I couldn't get the 50 mg pills, so I take 100mg each morning. Any more than that and the effects are too strong.

2) Do you find that since taking this drug, after one beer you are extremely social and confident, much more so than before?

3) Ever think of adding an energizer like Adrafinil to the mix? I just started yesterday, and maybe its my imagination but it's like I already feel the effects kicking in.

Good to hear the positive news!

What kind of medicine is Picamilon?
where do you buy it?

Picamilon is GABA bonded to niacin, which allows it to easily cross the blood-brain barrier. It's also a vasodilator, means it increases blood dirculation in the brain and heart. As far as where you can buy it, the rules of the board don't allow this info. But just type "Picamilon" in Yahoo or Google and go from there.

Glad to hear it's working for you, I've een really surprised at just how powerful it is. To address your questions:

1) How much a day are you taking? How many doses? I couldn't get the 50 mg pills, so I take 100mg each morning. Any more than that and the effects are too strong.

100mg three times a day. I personally wouldn't buy the 50mg pills as a 60-count bottle of those goes for around the same as a 60-count bottle of the 100mgs. I'd suggest dividing the contents of the 100mg capsules into gelcaps.

2) Do you find that since taking this drug, after one beer you are extremely social and confident, much more so than before?

Actually I don't really drink, but I've been thinking of starting to drink the occasional glass of red wine, so I guess I'll see then.

3) Ever think of adding an energizer like Adrafinil to the mix? I just started yesterday, and maybe its my imagination but it's like I already feel the effects kicking in.

Not long ago I was completely controlling my symptoms with high-dose modafinil, which I ended up having to quit because it caused horrible headaches. Normal doses never helped at all, so I doubt adrafinil would do much good.

Oh, and see my post down below about Tranquili-G, another great product.

I've ordered some Picamilon. I believe it's been doing well in Russia. Is that true? However I wait with hope. My problem is GAD mainly. Is it a bit like GHB? And therefore likely to be made illegal? Why is Adrafanil necessary? Does Picamilon make you tired? Glad to here of all your successes
Fred

Picamilon -- legality?

I haven't tried Picamilon, although I'm thinking about it. I don't understand all the secrecy about sources though -- if you type "picamilon xxx" into Google, the main source that pops up is based in San Diego. So, it doesn't look like it's controlled in the U.S.

I'm curious about it, and from what I can tell, it seems to be perfectly legal (although feel free to correct me on this, anyone).

Hi FredPotter,

I haven't read much about this, but I do believe Picamilon is a prescription drug in Russia. It was first synthesized maybe 20, 30 years ago. They prescribe it for depression, cerebrovascular insufficiency, glaucoma, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and anxiety... possibly other things.

It's nothing like GHB-- it doesn't cause any drowsiness at all, and is mildly stimulating. GHB is both a prescursor to and a metabolite of GABA; Picamilon is GABA bonded to niacin, thus taking it will increase your levels of this neurotransmitter... which, in a more roundabout way, is the same thing Nardil and some anti-convulsants manage to do.

I wouldn't say adrafinil is in any way necessary, but in my opinion a normal dose of adrafinil or modafinil couldn't hurt anyone.

I may be wrong, but picamilon seems to be considered a dietary supplement, at least for now. The issue with sources is that they sometimes sell, or link to sources that sell, prescription drugs without a prescription or drugs that haven't been approved by the FDA.

Hi Dr. Bob,

I'm not trying to be difficult, but I am a little confused. If a U.S. supplier offers a "dietary supplement", shipped from within the country, doesn't that make it OK unless it's clearly a controlled substance? I really haven't investigated the Picamilon situation (or even tried the stuff), but it looks like it's here in the U.S., and it seems that there are various other "supplements" that aren't FDA-approved, yet are readily available over the internet from within the country.

I understand the policy re: prescription meds imported from other countries, but the supplement issue seems much fuzzier, and now I'm not clear on what's OK to post and what's not.

Yes. Sorry about not being clearer before. See the additions above. Is that better?

Bob
