Question For Any Woman .....

Posted by johnhill on January 5, 2002, at 13:25:27

I have panic disorder that is almost cured with Nardil. On Nardil, I am very social, kind, humerous. The only way you could tell I am one Nardil is I gain weight-lovehands and small gut and have difficulty sexually (basical can perform, but not finish-sorry if that is too much info).

How important are these things to a women, that is a man's weight, sexual performance, fact that he has panic disorder? Honestly answers please. The reason I ask is if it is very crucial to the opposite sex .... I think I am going to attempt a drug switch (all ready been through 7 without luck). I am scared of ending up alone in life .....

For me, it's not that important if I love the person, & he's loving in return. Sounds terrible to say, but if the woman can finish, even if you can't, she'd be happy for herself but feel bad for you.

I suppose it may depend on your age & the age of the woman involved. If you're young, too many young women still look at physical appearances a fair amount. Hopefully, after a woman's older & experienced, it's the personality of the man that means far more than appearance.

Strikes me that panic disorder might be more damaging to your ability to form a relationship than love handles. Don't think you'll end up alone because of them, or even your finishing issue, if you're a good guy. How do you feel about fat girls?

Honestly ... on body shape alone .... I prefer well proportioned women, I guess medium size figure as opposed to overweight. But as you mentioned, love goes so far beyond body type. And I have fallen for overweight women.

Perhaps you could look into the anticonvulsant Topiramate, which promises mood stability as well as prominent weight loss.

As far as i am concerned i prefer men who are:

1)warm and good hearted : arrogance, insensitiveness and selfishness being the features i hate the most in a man.

2) mature;
cause i don't want to be his mother but his mate, sharing responsabilities and facing life together

3 ) intelligent : couldn't put up with a stupid man.

John:

When I was a teenager, I Swore I'd never date a chubby guy who was going bald - for some reason these two characteristics bothered me.

My hubby is chubby and going bald - I couldn't care less now. :)

Hi,

My husband was chubby when I fell in love w/ him and he's REALLY fat now (5'10" 230lbs). After 10 years I'm still CRAZY about him.

He has problems - anxiety and a little OCD, also some problems in the bedroom.... I couldn't care less.

We enjoy the same type of music, books, food, and fun. He loves me unconditionally, he's funny, generous and kind BUT he's definately not perfect.

Look for someone who shares your interests and then just be nice. If you are a young man (20s or 30s) look for a woman who's a little older.

Good luck.

John,
I couldn't help but evesdrop on this post... I'm not overweight, not bald, and my only problem with sex is that I can't get enough!! But I am not a happy man and would consider trading some of my vanity for whatever might change that.

Nonetheless, the responses you've gotten to your question have been very reasuring to me. I feel all warm and tingly inside about it being okay to be flawed...Cause God knows I am.

I prefer a man who is humerous, intellegent, respectful, responsible, reliable and caring. Looks really don't matter.
My husband is 5'11" 230+ lbs is all of these.
Before meds my libido was blah- could care less,
taking Wellbutrin has changed all that and we are closer than ever. But there were times I couldn't "finish" either- but I was happy to please him.

The social, kind, and humerous would score you big points in my book! I wouldn't mind getting involved with someone with a mood or anxiety disorder as long as they were handling it sensibly (i.e. getting treatment, as you are, and not in denial). After all, I have a mood disorder myself. :) As far as looks, well, the specifics of the guy's physical attributes aren't as important to me as his grooming. Like does he bathe every day, wear fresh clean clothes and deodorant, go to the dentist, and just generally take care of himself. Sexual performance? For me there's a lot more to physical intimacy and making love than finishing the actual um...act. Don't keep yourself out of the dating scene!

This is a fine thread, but I'd like to redirect it to Psycho-Social-Babble. If you want, I can start a thread over there and post a link here (or someone else can do that, too). Thanks,

Bob
