Meds failing, need advice on finding help

Posted by Racer on January 30, 2001, at 23:34:14

I hope this is medication related, it is to me...

Anyway, with all the stuff going on, I'm hardly functional at all. I go from zero to raving or weeping in .02 seconds, and would happily sleep 75% of the time.

In other words, something has to be done.

I'm hoping to find some sort of doctor who can and will see me -- me who has no insurance and hasn't been able to succeed at any sort of a job lately -- for a reasonable cost to look at fixing my meds so that I can function. Alternately, I'd like to find some sort of insurance plan to cover the mental health issues -- with or without any other coverage.

If anyone knows of anything that can help me find any of the above, or has any advice on my next step, please let me know!

We have posted several times about free med programs, so concentrate on getting a doc.

Racer,

I wish I could help with the insurance thing - but I live in the UK - and really still find the idea of not having a free medical system amazing. OK, so ours isn't great, but atleast it's there!!!

But, I am in justt he same place as you at the moment... I go from running around raving, to sobbing... and could easily sleep 18 hours a day (in fact was for a while until last week, when boss told em to come back to work.. or else!!) And now.. I've just read James leaving post, and I'm back to sobbing (at work too!)

But give me an hour and I'll be on my egroups sending them pages and pages and pages of worthless crap!!! (hey, was raving a bit when I got to work, so have just sent them all picture of my pet lizards!!)

I'm seeing my pdco tomorrow... I'll let ya know what he tells me... what meds are you on at the moment (I'm sorry - I know I *should* know, but my brain is kinda taking time outs where memory is concerned!)

Take care

Nikki x

Hi Racer --
You've probably already thought of this but have you tried looking at the FDA clinical trials? They are posted on the FDA web site and arranged by med and region.
Possible?
Are you eligible for Medicaid? Costs nothing to fill out the app -- ask for an expedited process since you're feeling so badly.
Interested in any more schooling? Most schools offer insurance or access to student health docs.
Strangely, my pdoc doesn't seem to be sending me bills for my daughter. He's on salary as a professor but perhaps I can ask *discreetely* what the deal is and how it might be made use of elsewhere.

I hope you feel better.

S.
