You might want to give gabapentin (Neurontin) a quick trial. Depending on how fast you titrate up in dosage, you should know within two weeks if it will be helpful. There is also tiagabine (Gabitril). Tiagabine is an unpredictable drug in that it can, in a minority of people, produce depression, anxiety, insomnia, and seizures. However, its property of GABA reuptake inhibition often yields a reduction in amygdala activity and an anxiolytic effect.
