> Just started Xanax XR (2 mg). There is a label on the bottle warning against interactions with dietary supplements, but no specifics. I did not see any similar warnings on the manufacturer's website. Has anyone heard of any specific dietary supplements that cause adverse reactions with Xanax XR? Can one continue to take vitamins (E, C, B), selenium, essential oils, etc.?

That's basic CYA (cover your *ss) from Pfizer. showed no interaction with those vitamins. Generally, prudent use of vitamins, specifically, not "supplements" such as high dosage Niacin or E (beyond 400 IU), SAM-e, SJW, Kava, etc, shouldn't affect it.

As noted, more than occasional use of Kava will boost and interact with the GABA transmitters of benzodiazepines, so only occasional use would be recommended. Its recommended anyhow because there is still an open question on kava-ism/liver issues.

Just as some SSRIs and the like, grapefruit juice is listed as a modest interaction, possibly slightly boosting the level of Xanax XR in your body because of P450 3A4 substrate/inhibitor interaction. That is an often debatable one and probably not a significant one.
