> I am not sure that there is a single documented case of date rape which involved solely GHB. It's almost always used with alcohol, or confused entirely for flunitrazepam (which also is demonized in alcohol's stead). The real date rape drug is alcohol! It would be impossible to disguise a knockout dose of sodium GHB in anything except [perhaps] an alcoholic beverage (it would be like adding 3-4g of salt). Usually, the alcoholic beverage acts as the primary anesthetic in cases like this, and the other drugs simply potentiate it, e.g. "Hey, there's a benzo in my beer!" (nice quote if said like a 1950s commercial spot).
> More date rapes have happened as a result of alcohol than any other drug. I know this is true simply because of the pharmacological properties of alcohol combined with how ubiquitous and legal it is. However, alcohol is part of the national drug cartel here in the US (along with cigarettes), so it will never be demonized for something like date rape nor banned. In NJ, a DUI is a misdemeanor, while possession of a joint is a felony and could result in jail time.

Hey, I live in It's astounding to me that merely getting caught with a joint is a felony. I mean, think about it...once you're 21 it's perfectly legal to you stock up on as much booze as you want. And alcohol IS the "true" date-rape drug. The GHB, and roofies obviously, just add to the already intoxicating effects of ethanol. You could slip any benzo into an alcoholic beverage and present a similar danger to young women. Being an alcoholic myself, I feel very strongly about the fact that the people in this country that are partying and getting sh*tfaced are so young. Our brains are still developing, and a lot of us are making very poor choices (for example binge-drinking).
