It's only necessary to avoid a drug completely if there's been a psychological 'addiction' eg. alcohol in a former 'alcoholic'.

It's not overnight per se, and perhaps I am crazy for wanting to withdraw immediately. I can only say that I am not gaining anything by taking the Xanax other than a stigma from my peers.
I have no addiction - psychologically, and I would have anticipated physical withdrawal symptoms to have began to precipitate by this point. Undoubtedly I will experience some symptomatic withdrawals, but I have a stable mindset going into this and that is a large factor to consider. ..
Inspite of my medical training, my B.S. in Psychology still holds water in that there is much to be said for "mind over matter."
*Also - the treatment was originally treatment for agoraphobia, not relative to panic nor generalized anxiety.
I much appreciate your concern -- and I am definately paying attention to what signals my body is sending. However, you need not worry - granted the fact that I am not. =D 3mg b.i.d. to zero, that has to be some kind of world record right??
Thanks again Ed!Matt
