> Ur on effexor and remeron right?....i'm on 45mg of remeron and 75mg of effexor....the doc didn't want to raise the effexor because i'm "already on two anti-depressants." Although, she left the option open to go higher, but I thought consulting with u guys would help my decision. There havn't been any bad side effects thus far, besides a small change in sleeping (helped by neurontin b4 bed)and some dry mouth. I was just wondering what could be expected from a higher dose...I don't want to be too far out there..haha It seems to be stimulating, but also calming...anyway, let me know ur thoughts..thanx

Hi,

I agree with what Scott has said & I'd also like to add that YMMW because eveyone is different. For me Effexor is a great AD, but the side effects of nausea & anorgasmia were very annoying & not going away. I asked my doc for Remeron for my insomnia problem & quickly noted that it also fixed the nausea & anorgasmia problems.

I am current on 225mg of Effexor & 30mg of Remeron. I tried 300mg of Effexor for 4 weeks, but it was causing a deterioration of my cognitive processes. It did give me the lift I wanted, but the negatives are too high. I was impressed with how much easier it was to do things, but I don't want to lose intellect. It also bumped my BP up by 10/10 from 120/80 to 130/90, I expected an increase in BP & was willing to take the risk. I am also at my limit of Remeron too. My feet are puffy most of the time & I still get a sense of irritation after taking it. I am planing on easing it back a little. I saw a pdoc for the first time last week & we discussed hypothyroidism as my TSH is high, I was looking forward to trying some low dose Thyroxine, but this week I found out my T3/T4 is normal & my doc doesn't want to give me any to try :/ (I had a GTT & Thyroid blood test last week) Now I have to see an Endocrinologist.

Now that I have bored you to death with my situation, I'd like to know what effect you are seeking to gain? The main limiting factor for Effexor is blood pressure, you need to monitor it.

Cheers,
Panda.
