So I have three legal cases before the courts, now.
One against a University for refusing to process applications to enrol properly.
One against a University for refusing to process application to enrol, refusing to examine a thesis, refusing to base the outcome on examination of thesis, demanding a bribe or exit payment, fraudulent recording of grades...
One against Universities New Zealand (the Vice Chancellor's COmmittee' for refusing to follow their own Whistle-Blower procedure with respect to the previous issue. Refusal to follow procedure, refusal to launch an investigation, refusal to state timeframe on investiation, refusal to state grounds of non-investigation, refusal to take the issue to the Vice Chancellors other than the one who is implicated for a proper hearing and verdict.
New Zealand: It's pretty fuckign corrupt here. It's so corrupt here that the only people they will hire to investigate corruption are either incompetent or corrupt themselves.
I went to a professional conduct committee appeal the other day. A dentist. They had been accumulating patient complaints about him for around 30 years and the majority of complaints were never investigated by tehm.
When they did investigate he lied. He would cite health issues that were made up and not comply with their investigation. Instead of them saying 'you have 30 days to cough up evidence or we will prosecute' they accepted his b*llsh*t excuses... Which blew the costs out of proportion. So then they don't file for the costs. So there isnt' an investigation because they are trying to keep costs down. So they don't prosecute him because they are paid salary either way, I suppose, but prosecuting runs additional court costs.
I don't know.
THen they need to go to a dentist. So they can go to a denist who writes things like 'Nigel [the dentist] thinks Felicity [the patient] is a disgusting filthy girl who spends so much on her face looking so pretty but her mouths is a disgusting cess-pit of putridity because she refuses to engage in the most basic of dental hygeine' on their official patient notes.
I guess that's the kind of world they are happy living in.
Where they get a 'good government job' of investigating / prosecuting professional standards conduct violations. Probably because their mommy or daddy was a lawyer so it is their birthright...

You see, in order to be a University there has to be research. Students and staff have to have the academic freedom to do research to international standards -- otherwise it isn't a University. It is a community college or a trade school or whatever. What is distinctive about University's is that the people there are (may be) engaged in research.
But studnets can't engage in research in New Zealand Universities. The ''Universities'' (in name only) refuse to process graduate studnets research. The average time to completion of a 3 year (360 point 3 EFT 34 notional learning weeks x 3 qualification) at the ''University'' of Otago (ahem, ahaw) is something like 10 years.
But I don't know how that can be because when you simply refuse to sign a studnet off their completion is never so that would throw your stats. So I suppose they discount people who never complete.
So...
They aren't actually awarding Degrees.
Because they won't actually let people complete them.
They say 'you arent' done until we say you are done' and they never say you are done.
You are just expected to keep throwing money at them... To be slaves, basically.
Not many people hired by NZ Universities are actually engaged in research that is acknowledged / accepted internationally. THere's a bit of a local circle-jerk going on of people who decide to opt out of international scene, basically. We don't get very may international acaemics anymore. What few we have look incredably puzzled by teh situation / set-up here. With respect to how the quality of the revered gets to be so low... Sort of looking about a little as to whether it's a whole generation of things having gone horribly wrong with the birthing or toxins or something so that they really are the best of New Zealand research capacity... Or whether there are capable and competent people who are not employed and who are not utilised, here.
It's the later.
People get paid (take for themselves) 1/4 of a million dollars, 1/2 a million dollars 3/4 of a million dollars.. From teh government purse... For themselves. And in exchange they refuse to do their statutory function.
It's the kiwi way.
The head of 'watercare' took 3/4 of a million dollars for himself every year while simultaneously not investing in the building infrastructure needed by Auckland to protect against inevitable period of drought. The government ends up needing to provide a huge bail out to Auckland industry in the form of a purchase to Waikato for more river-water. It's just a giant circle-jerk.
Meanwhile beneficiaries are given $25 per week pay increase. SO landlords increase the rent by $50. That's fair -- right?
It's a nasty nasty land of corrupt incompetents.

Because they failed to legislate to protect against rent increases being higher than the rate of inflation.

OUr infrastructure is falling apart. Covid has sort of.. COme at a necessary time, actually. It's masking how our infrastructure is falling apart / not fit for purpose. New Zealand put up a shiny facade... But it's been apparent for a while that there's nobody home -- there's nothing behind it.
For example, there's no point building a shiny new building with capacity for however many whatever... When there's not skilled workers. Because they can't process their applications for the job, they can't select the competent for the job. THey likely cannot arrange pay-roll for the job. They likely cannot arrange workers benefits or housing or any of the most basic of things that people need to perform first world functions. THe administration and the cleaning and all of the things. We can't do any of them. NOthing. There's nothing here.
THey go on about building new infrastcture and expanding. New segments of railway. New motorway sections. But the real problem is that what we have is falling apart. We can't expand becuase we can't afford to maintain. We didn't do the most basic of things we were supposed to do. The Engineers were clear. They had maximum weight limits on trucks and things like that. And what happens is that people decide it's worth the risk to send overweight trucks about on the roads... So they reduce the lifespan of the brige. So then we need lock-downs and we need the bridge to close while we figure how to reinforce it. We can't run our current trains. The tracks on the lines we have are about had it. Teh trains can only run about 3 carriages at about 30ks an hour or something because they fear de-railment. For them to actually fear de-railment means that there's likey a very very real risk. Because usually there would be genuine risk but they would ignore it. Pretend it didn't exist.
It's like locusts of coruption swamped or swarmed through the land...
Universities have been gutted. They don't grade studnet work. They're in the process of letting everyone in... But then people end up with either worthless Degrees and / or the Universities simply won't give them recognised transcripts on the way out.
Overtaken by psychopaths.
