I played that for a few hours. Its fun. I like day of defeat. Easy to learn. Teamplay because you have to capture flags together.

Huh.

I never played it. I liked the intro a lot.

The story about the Vault Hunters.

The song and how it ties in to the characters.

Or maybe I am getting my Borderlands confused and that's why I can't find the video with the song and the intro sequence... One of the characters was 'siren' and then the is like 'get off my bus'. 'no really get off my bus'.

And about how being raised in conditions of deprivation is a catalyst. Because what ya gonna do? If you cannot make ends meet (your legitimate needs, here, not talking about greed, talking about need) then you really have no option but...

And it describes a game.

And I don't want to play the game. But I see the allure of the opening sequence. It seems exciting... And so on... Tempting...

But I don't buy-in. I'm not buying into it. Life isn't like that. Doesn't have to be like that. Won't be like that. There's another way... Another way to be. Another set of things to be worked for...

Yeah.

But I guess I like it because it helps me understand the game that most people seem to be playing (the individualistic treasure seeking high risk high reward).

And I guess I feel a bit of empathy with respect to people being forced to it.

I know I'm different. I wouldn't break under torture. I don't. Because I can go away inside myself. But most people can't. Maybe most people were never forced to endure the certain kind of deprivation I did. Where vault-hunting wasn't on the table.

Yeah.

Huh. Yeah, there's a co-op.

I watch Cohh play a lot of games. Mostly while I'm doing other things. He's like the cricket. 1 day matches or 3 day matches or 5 day matches. A sort of activity in the background.

So I've seen a bit of it, but usually I'm not paying enough attention to follow the over-all plot. I can watch re-runs and pick up different parts of the plot that way, but then I also get different series confused... Because of watching a few hours of this one and then a few hours of this other one and I don't know what I'm sort of watching / listening to half the time.

I get that it's appealing to the teenage male demographic mostly. The young guy going out into the world and seeking recognition and respect and so on.

And I think about sealions and other critters and how the older males drive them away and they band together and get up to mischeif. And eventually a few remaining ones overthrow the former leaders and become leaders of their own.

But I also think that people have frontal lobes and we don't have to behave quite so much like animals...

But we do.

Sigh.

And I don't think it needs to be that way. But we've exceeded carrying capacity for *people*. And when you exceed carrying capacity for *people* You overcrowd them and deprive them and so on... It brings out the worst...

I don't know what Corona is doing to global population. Apparently the birth rate is well down. I don't know. I don't know. It's very political. Politicaly leaders wanting to grow an army or some nonsense. I don't know. Wanting to raise a swarm of locusts to decimate the world. I don't know.

Everybody wants their harem, I guess. I guess that't the thing.

People find what they need out of other people. So they are motivated to collect up as many other people as they can get their hands on.

And then I get to thinking about the vault-dwellers of fallout...

Computer games really have come a long way in my lifetime.

I remember the choose your own adventure story ones. And now... Escape from Tarkov and the like. Wowsers.
