when i was a kid i had this book. i remember abe going down the river and seeing the slavery market. and how they were selling black people like they were animals. and how that made him feel.

another kid i knew had more of the series... i remember i really liked the one about rabies. i don't remember who the person was or what value they were supposed to have exemplified, but i remember the dog was foaming at the mouth...

there was something... i don't remember if it was the rabies book or another book or if it was something different entirely. maybe a movie or something. the perspective was that you (the viewer) was shrunk down somehow. maybe you were as small as the virion or something and you went down the esophagus (or something)... anyway you got to explore anatomy from the perspective of something small. where blood cells or whatever were really really large. i liked that best. that was really really cool.

but i read the abe book a lot. building log cabins etc.
