med school interview

Posted by alexandra_k on November 17, 2019, at 3:29:54

So I have an interview for selection to medical school this week.

I feel...

Angry.

I just feel angry about it.

Because I interviewed last year, you see. They got to see me in person to check that I didn't have three heads, already. They got to check that I didn't turn up with a sign language interpreter or a guide dog or any kind of visible disability or deformity or defect.

And they miscalculated my GPA (according to their own algorithm) and they reused to give me my place because they refused to acknowlede that I had completed my research qualifications - as the reports of the examiners had indicated to the University.

All to keep me out.

Then when I complained about this the Dean is like 'well if you have a problem then you might want to think about whether you want to join us because the same people who ruled you out are the people who are responsible for motivating and inspiring you' or similar.

To which I replied that they better set the bar one hell of a lot lower if they wanted anybody to find them motiviating and inspiring. THEY MISCALCULATED MY GPA. I wanted to do it DESPITE them not BECAUSE of them. They are the reason our people don't have health care. They are responsible for holding back the development of NZ. Who in their right mind would want to join them?

Sigh.

So I am angry that I have to interview again. I shouldn't have to interview again. I should have finished up my second year, already.

I am afraid that the World organisations won't acknowledge the University qualification by the time I'm done. Because things are too corrupt here. They don't even grade things properly anymore.

THey have made it pretty damned clear they don't want me. I wasn't supposed to have been born. I was supposed to get the hell out at the first opportunity. I am not supposed to be here. I am not wanted here. I do not have a living wage here. I am always forced to live with other peoples children and with prositutes and drug dealers and people fresh out of prison / people on track for prison.

It is a nasty f*ck*ng nasty sh*t hole of a trash heap of a nasty f*ck*ng country.

I wish I had never been born.

So...

Not feeling so great about the interview.

How am I supposed to convey *how much* I want to do it? I am supposed to beg. I think it is totally motivating and inspiring how these people want to be on selection committees so they can see if the people have three heads.

I am sure they know of the research that tells them that interviews are not predictive of anything at all.

And still, they choose to be part of interview process.

Because they ENJOY it.

Why would they enjoy it?

Because they enjoy feeling like they have the power to decide who gets to do it and who doesn't.

Because they enjoy feeling like their snap judgement of how the person seems in 4 or 5 minutes gets to decide if the person gets to do it or not.

Who would want to be responsible for that?

These people do.

That makes it hard to take them seriously.

Which makes the whole thing hard.

Which makes the whole thing selection for psychopathy.

Look them in the eyes and make them feel special. Feel like they are the most important person in the world. You will do and say and follow everything exactly what they want as they want. They will direct you in what to say and so on. Yes sir of course sir whatever you say sir I could not be more eagre to please you sir...

For a country that has no conception of informed consent.

The real wonderful magical special thing about it is how many kids they pick out after first year who were picked out from secondary school. The kids they have decided to basically fund all the way and not actually give them an academic qualification.

We are a 2 classes country. Rick people don't live here. But we have a lot of poor people who make their living taking other people's stuff. My rent supports 2 property managers. The kids downstairs seem to have the hang of it -- you have to deal drugs or sell your body or turn to crime to pay the rent. You have property managers to support.

I don't know anybody who owns only 1 house.

People own 3 houses or they have 2 property managers to support...

Thsi country is bull sh*t

And of course I knew that there wasn't really anything here and there wasn't really anyone home when I came back here.

And I thought there wouldn't be too many problems in my working may way through and up, again.

But I didn't appreciate the level of corruption that was behind peoples efforts to really gut this country for everything they could get.

It is a culture / land of bullies.

There is no industry / there is no real GDP. You cannot produce anything because bullies will steal it so you stop producing. It is not possible to get work done, here.

Turnitin has been turning it in for... Well, since whenver that was invented.

It is... I just don't know what to say... That the academics who chose to use it were too stupid to understand they were turnign themselves in that they were not employing blind grading. That they were not respcting their students intellectual property - giving it to third parties. The amount of time taken to grade each piece. The record of grades awarded for the different pieces. The record of whether it was blind graded or not. The record of whether it was checked or not.

I don't understand why people don't just follow the rules and do the things they are f*ck*ng well supposed to do.

Nothing works here.

How did it go? Are you from New Zealand? It seems like you are very fit academically. So what problems have led you here to dr-bob? (If you don't mind my asking)
