Followup to TMS treatment last summer

Posted by Clearskies on March 21, 2019, at 17:41:03

Its worn off although not completely.

I reached maximum therapeutic results about 3 weeks after the treatment ended, and very slowly started to degrade. Im presuming that that the machine agitated the area of my brain where serotonin is produced. When the agitation stopped, so did production, leaving me where I started.

I guess with successful results its a matter of the agitation havng restarted the serotonin production, like giving a car battery a jump to get started.

Oh, well.

Hi Clearskies,

I am sorry to hear this. Are you better overall than you were before the treatment?

What did the treatment center/doctor say or recommend for you? Did they suggest more sessions?

Hi, nice to meet you.
I havent been evaluated post treatment! Im feeling more functional overall, but I still have an awful lot of days where I make a bargain with myself in order to get out of bed: if I feel just as crummy in an hour, I give myself permission to go back to bed. So far I havent done it.

To answer your question, the followup to TMS and as a booster, further sessions are recommended. I believe it is for a week instead of the full six, but at $40 per day, I cannot afford to go through it again. Plus the discomfort and migraines are still vivid memories. No thanks.

I'm glad you are at least somewhat more functional. I'm sorry about the migraines--that's awful.
Wish TMS wasn't so expensive.

The relapse rate for TMS is 30%. The doctor in this video argues that it's much lower in his patients, who receive at least four weeks of TMS AFTER they've improved. How long did you continue to do TMS after you improved?

Would doing a booster session once every two or three weeks be an option?

I have already stated that the cost is prohibitive and the side effects I experienced during the 5 x a week for 6 weeks makes it not worth the benefits. Migraines stop my day cold.
