Appalling and shocking.

The man with the big manifesto came from near here.

Bitter fruit.

Hey.

Uh, thanks.

I guess you guys are referring to the Christchurch terrorism thing?

Yeah.

I don't at all understand / know what it was about / know what to think about these kinds of things.

Last mass shooting in Christchurch (that I know of) was to do with a guy shooting up Work and Income (welfare) office after being evicted from the park he was living in after being denied / declined accommodation assistance by Work and Income (welfare) in the region.

I... Understand why people go all gung ho, sometimes, if you have guns etc. I only mean to say that I think these things are under-described often times. I honestly feel that I have no f*ck*ng idea what any of it is about. What could have possibly motivated it and so on.

But I think about the effects. What are the effects of it being marketed as it has been?

Something something about increased police powers... Carrying firearms where they never did before. I guess that is the upshot, really. Increasing public acceptance of such things.

I don't even know we are talking about the same thing...

Yeah. A lot of people. And from a small community. People who came here, supposedly for a better life.

It allows us to look at being more careful / tighter with our immigration in a way that is seen as being protective of our vulnerable immigrants rather than being intrinsically racist / anti-immigration.

It presented the shooter as coming from (rather than on his way to) Australia. Thus making it seem about us tightening up our immigration laws for the protection of New Zealanders (rather than Australian) as well.

I know it seems... Something... To be focused on the effects on populations... But such things are, intrinsically, political.

I don't really know what to say about it when it comes to the perpetrator.

I know that there are many many many many many people in the world generally and New Zealand particularly who don't want to keep on living like that where living like that is all that they seem to be afforded in this world for this, that, and the other reason.

I suppose the lone wolf has a limited range of destruction (depending on gun laws). It is the organised crime... That is what 'terrorism' is supposed to be...

But you look at what the idiots in charge do with the resources they have (and how they distribute those resources and how they distribute positions of power and the like) and...

Awful people.

Autism is the rational position. MOstly. Seems to me.
