Is there a song that always cheers you up?

Posted by TexasChic on October 19, 2005, at 17:42:51

'Joy to the world' is playing on the radio and it always reminds me of my childhood and the innocence and curiousity I possessed back then.

Another song I HAVE to turn the radio up all the way and sing at the top of lungs no matter when it plays is 'Jane Says', by Janes Addiction. I don't know what it is about that song.

I could never decide which are my top favorites. I have too many. I love music. My co-workers have teasingly made fun of me because they've seen me driving down the highway singing with the radio. I just can't help it. I guess its the way I de-stress.

Its funny, my 7 year old nephew will walk around singing without even realizing it. I know he gets it from me because his parents sure don't do that.

My parents walked around singing all the time. I guess that's one good thing I got from them.

-T

P.S. Oh, another one that I have to turn up all the way is 'Unsung' by Helmet (a total head banger). My co-workers also tease me about the wide variety of music I like. I'm the only person I know who likes Heavy Metal, Hip-hop, and oldies (covering classic rock, 80's retro, 60's R&B, 70's love songs, etc). They think its funny that this easy going white chick is up on all the latest hip-hop.

yes, one of them is called "Someday" -I think
it starts out...oooooh child...things are gonna get easier.....oooooh child things'll be brighter--not sure who sings it

'Jane Says' is a great song - actually saw them sing it in concert last year or the one before!

I love every single song that was mentioned! I was especially happy to see Come on Eileen. Its definitely up there on my list.

Oh, and Someday, I love that song! I have to sing really loud with that one. Okay, lets face it, I sing with all of them. But that song brings an intense feeling of hope over me. Another one that makes me emotional is What a Wonderful World by Louie Armstrong.

... and love Weird Al's parody of Lola.

I met him in a swamp down in Dagoba
Where it bubbles all the time like a giant carbonated soda
S O D A, soda

I saw the little runt sitting there on a log
I asked him his name and in a raspy voice he said "Yoda"
Y O D A, Yoda
Yo-yo-yo-yo Yoda

Well, I've been around, but I ain't never seen
A guy who looks like a muppet, but he's wrinkled and green
Oh, my Yoda
Yo-yo-yo-yo Yoda

Well, I'm not dumb, but I can't understand
How he can lift me in the air just by raising his hand
Oh, my Yoda
Yo-yo-yo-yo Yoda Yo-yo-yo-yo Yoda
