Ah. So it would be the same with a visual picture - lots of *** and ... with the *'s in the shape of a cuss word. Aw, that would have been my next move.

My partner & I met in Babble Open in October. We continued communicating via IM, then via phone until we met in person in mid-November (I flew out to visit her). BTW, this is a bi-coastal romance I'm talking about! Now it's a committed, permanent thing and I plan to move by April. I'm going for a 3-week visit on Friday (thank god!). So, good things can certainly result from personal contact via Babble.

thanks for the update ron

I feel the same way. Seems that most people are familiar to others and I'm not.

Angel:

Don't remember if you were around in October when we had our "coming out" party. Here's a link to the thread: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/relate/20041015/msgs/411029.html

Thanks for asking,

Hullo Ghost,
So can any of us do anything to make you feel more welcome? Hate to see someone scarper because PB hasn't been holding up its end of the deal. Honest. I'm not being facetious. I posted this same question to someone on Writing about five or six months ago, and we've gotten on really well since then. Toss out a conversational thread or Babblemail me or others if you like. Or we could submit Dr. B's name to the Fab Five and see if they'd be willing to give him a makeover (that pixie look is SOOOOO 1600s). Atticus

Aw Atticus, that was all but archived!
Actually it was kind of an accident. I wasn't too sure what to do with it but wanted to make it clear what I was apologising for. [*]
Now that was a clever idea.

i dunno. i guess if people missed me, that'd make me feel good. i see people posting specifically to other people and always feel left out. is it me? probably. oversensitive and all that.

but i can't seem to verbalize lately. so maybe it makes no sense.

Thanks, crushed. But -- Oi! -- what's all this about you trying to enlist other lesbians on this site to "convert" straight girls?! That's my pond you're poaching in now! B*llocks! Just what we hetero guys in NYC need -- more competition, and much of it armed with a far more thorough knowledge of shoes than us. No fair! ;) Atti

I wasn't trying to bypass the system...
Maybe testing the limits a little...
Just trying to figure out how good Dr B wants this program to be...
I mean if it would pick up on visual art cuss words then that would be an acheivement indeed!
Could be a way to get funding for his work!

LOL.

Go geddim Dr B

Ahh, b*llocks! I like your big mouth! Without it I'd feel like half of a pair of book-ends. I took the lazy way and just deactivated the bloody asterisker-program-thing, despite Dr. Bob's attempts to save me from my impulsive self with his digital safety net. I just hope he keeps these kinds of devices optional, with an off switch. Makes life more interesting. For him and for me. Each one of these things just feels to me like "one more brick in the wall," to quote Pink Floyd. Sometimes it just feels good to run up to the edge of the cliff and see if you can stop in time. Logic's got nothing to do with it. And absurdity secretly rules the universe anyway. ;) Atticus

:-)
Oh Atticus, we could really egg each other on couldn't we? Did ya ever play 'chicken'? People have been known to get properly run over playing chicken ya know. 'Look - No hands!' have been known to be famous last words... Still, I suppose it is a relatively harmless way of playing with fire...

>despite Dr. Bob's attempts to save me from my impulsive self with his digital safety net. I just hope he keeps these kinds of devices optional, with an off switch.

You know, I don't think it was an attempt to save anyone from their 'impulsive self'. More their 'forgetful and inadvertantly offensive self'. With the auto checker on (and properly working) then you don't have to worry about it. With the auto checker off then you do. If you would prefer to worry about it then that is an option. So I don't see how it is limiting. I suppose I think of it as 'helpful'.

You know, you could have fun (with me) trying to figure the words that get through.

>And absurdity secretly rules the universe anyway.

Of course. Thats not such a secret ;-)
