A Christmas 5

Posted by Tabitha on December 25, 2004, at 17:41:48

Basically I feel cr*ppy today. A "10" is too much to ask, so let's see if I can find 5 little bright spots...

1. It's almost over.
2. I've definitely had worse Christmases. Remembering them makes me feel a little grateful for this one.
3. My brother sent a gift that turned out to be not so nice to induce guilt over my not sending him a gift this year, yet nice enough to bring a smile.
4. This board is not dead silent today, as I feared it would be.
5. A hot olive oil treatment removed a fair amount of my excessively bright hair dye.

Anyone else?

Tabitha,

I love bright hair, just for the record. :)

let's see...

1. homemade stuffed tofu loaf with sweet potato casserole
2. having food inside and avoiding outside
3. snow looks pretty when you dont have to shovel it
4. homemade pumpkin pie and real whipped cream
5. naps, glorious naps.

My 5...OK...couldn't stop...love writing...need to get a life obviously...so I went to 10.

1. The girlies didn't wake up too early.
2. When we opened up the curtains, it was snowing, softly.
3. The roast lamb was perfectly cooked and delicious.
4. We had a quiet and peaceful and happy day - no bickering or fighting family to contend with.
5. My little one said it was the best Christmas she's ever had.
6. My 8 year old saved her pocket money and bought me a cute ring....bless her heart (she's been saving it and hiding it for months).
7. Love those handmade cards from the kids.
8. Christmas is over.
9. Dishes are almost done.
10. Everyone is sleeping...but me.

Anyone else???

1. My husband and I both loved what we gave each other.

2. We wrangled out of visiting family.

3. I spilled wax on my good silk pants during the candlelight service, but I put together another outfit for Christmas that looked pretty.

4. I'm not beating myself up for over-eating.

5. The owner of a restaurant we go to often gave us a nice gift and an extremely warm, loving card, all hand-written and from the heart.

I'm not sure I can break it into pieces, because it was more of a global experience. But what was looking to be a very not so good Christmas turned out to be magical.

culling from your favorites here are mine

1. hot olive oil hair treatment sounds yummy...warm and relaxing

2. naps...god those are divine

3. perfectly done lamb...i'll be right over

4. everyone sleeping...safe, warm, protected

5. card from restaurant owner...thoughtfulness when done from the heart is under-rated

6. softly falling snow...peacefulness personified

My own

1. turkey at the my husbands relatives did not induce food poisoning this year. In fact it was great.

2. not such a huge crowd at dinner so we were all able to hear our conversations

3. my view down the street in the neighborhood is filled with trees covered in twinkling lights

4. the dogs, emma and gus, tolerated their bright red bows very nicely for our family photograph (benefiting goldens even tho they aren't)

5. gave thanks for the people who influenced our lives positively in some way this past year. Gave the mailman an angel to protect him should he decide to waylay another stranger attempting to take off with mail (like he did for us).

6. threw cushions down in front of the fireplace and slept to the sounds of a cracking fire Christmas night.

amen

anastasia
