Dysfunctional Family. Recovering Adult

Posted by Lamdage22 on March 26, 2020, at 5:20:16

I just think that my family is incredibly dysfunctional and my feeling is that they don't even want me to get help because that could mean that I am not available for their BS anymore. They don't say that, but I get that sense. It is clear that I need some firm *ss boundaries with them. And no more fake CBT therapists who routinely work around the real problem. It strikes me as no coincidence that the hospital that my father paid (i was transferred from the regular unit to the private unit) out of "organizational reasons", recommended I do not do depth therapy. He who pays the piper, calls the tune. He even wrote a letter to my Psychologist, asking him to "destroy" the doubts that I have about my parents. I think that speaks for itself.

I am not saying that CBT is never appropriate, but I think it is overused.

Maybe I overestimate the dysfunction. I still need to adress it with my therapist though.
