Does anyone elses therapist...

...take a few minutes to remember who the heck you are? I thought chart review was done prior to the start of the clinical day. <MY BAD>

Well, my therapists always have. They tell me, no more than 20-25 patients a week so they can remember people well. I guess there are those that try to cram in more, given low insurance reimbursements (and I mean really, really low), but the two therapists I have had would feel it was unethical to have more than 25 therapy patients at once.

I think it has to do with where I live. Even though there are several medical universities here, the graduates sure dont stay!! They appear to flee the area. Its not exactly a college town...

We get the half in the bottom 50% practicing here, I warrant, apart from the faithful few carrying on family tradition.

Yes, I mean to be critical. Not keeping on continuing education, not because theyre not even familiar with popular authors in the field of interest and the vernacular used - why, its just plain ignorance.

Interesting. A just read about a study that found that metro-Boston (where I live) is one of the five lowest paying areas for doctors in the US. Yet we have more doctors and way more specialists than cities where docs could make a lot more than they do here (and have much lower living costs). I guess all the research and top hospitals, not to mention endless cultural events, good education system (MA students score highest on math standardized tests of all the 50 states). So we have lots of really good psychiatrists and therapists.

Hi CK,

A few years ago my therapist called me by her son's name - that was strange to say the least. Ever since that time she gets my name right, but will forget what we were talking about. That makes me forget until later in the session when one of us blurts out "we were talking about___"

Next time your therapist forgets introduce yourself.

i've seen therapist, or mainly just counselors at psych or at school, they see so many people.....when i was teenager seemed were so warm and willing to help, but now im older i just have keep it all inside and deal with it later.
but maybe have a cool smile, or catch phrase so they would immediately know who you are, when they see alot of people, i think maybe that's why
