Dystopia

Bad on so many levels, with the aesthetics of a dystopian film.

Wow! Goodness me. I don't know.

Right now the civil war is between the police state and everyone else. I agree, wow! Maybe that is good, the ability to still be shocked and outraged.

With worldwide protests, I feel the US is less alone, even if we are an outlier in the western world.

I know you're familiar with this, so don't watch, but it's new to me. A reminder to me that the suppression of people of color is worldwide. Do you recall learning about racism as a child? It was very disorienting.

Tasers can kill people. I know you know. It really should be beyond the pale. That violence becomes the default action by the police tells about how they have been trained. I understand that humans can strike out when afraid, and I can't judge that response, but when police act like this, and are given weapons to do this, that is the system. Preaching to the choir, but my god.

I couldn't finish this video. I made myself watch and witness George Floyd's death, and it was a terrible thing to see, but doing so was my civic duty. I really feel this.

It was the ferris wheel that was the detail in that clip, all that revolting (under the circumstances) glitter.

Just like the cop who killed Floyd with one hand in his pocket.

Makes me feel like having a shower.

When I get time I'll look at your link, and reply properly.

No need to look at the link. You've already seen it.
I see-saw between optimism and dread. Today is optimism. Seems the tide has turned judging by to support shown for
protestors. trump has ordered the national guard out of DC, although the fencing around the WH can likely been seen by NASA in space.

What did you expect? I dont know why were surprised. When you put your foot on a mans neck and hold him down for 300 years, and then you let him up, whats he going to do? Hes going to knock your block off.

LBJ, 1968

New York has declared that chokehold a felony. Significant victory for that state.

Someone put it this way: the police are rioting.

There is a fantastic film on Netflix (I don't know Australia's streaming services) on James Baldwin.

'I am not your negro', maybe? We saw that some time ago. I remember liking it even if not much more.
