The Australian Constitution proclaims it so (Article 6).

So how come NZ gets a seat at the UN and Taiwan doesn't???

it really doesn't look good.

i mean... the university refused to enrol me in a timely fashion.

the univerity calendar regulations say applications for thesis enrolments are due 1 month prior to the intended start date.

i had an employee of the university say she was willing to supervise me. there was only i think 1 phd student in the entire department. it's not a resource intensive subject.

they refused to enrol me.

they started having tantrums that i was applying to study one degree (a 1 year masters) when they wanted me to study a different degree (a 3 year phd). they simply couldn't compute / process the fact that i did not apply to the degree program that they wanted for me.

then i submit a thesis for examination and they refuse to get it to examiners. i mean... they refuse to get it to examiners. the dean threatens to fail me for the degree if i insist that it should go out to examiners. she will not send it to examiners. she did not send it out for examination.

a couple weeks later... she conned me into thinking that if i kept working and submitted another version in a couple weeks then that would go out without any further delay. which was the best i could expect since she refused to send out the previous version.

so i got them that other version and they sent it out to be examined for the wrong degree. they confused the signals intentionally. the examiners were only paid to examine a masters thesis. the examiners were told they were examining a masters thesis. they were asked to fill out a template for a 'doctoral report', however, and asked to fill out a template for a 'master of philosophy recommendation'.

in this manner the university attempted to force the examiners to have to come up with enough substantive comments / changes to turn a 50,000 word 1 year masters thesis into a 100,000 word 3 years doctoral thesis. then... the only mphil 'recommendation' that coheres with that is the one that requires me to re-enrol for 6 months minimum and undergo another round of examination.

the university calendar regulations say that the outcome of examiantion of masters is teh REPORTS of the examiners. the calendar regulations say the progess of doctoral is the REPORT AND RECOMMENDATION of examiners. the recommendation form pertains to the fate of a phd.

the univesrity could not compute / comprehend / allow me to do a degree that was not of their choosing.

they think i'm a f*ck*ng idiot that i didn't apply for a full fee paying scholarship to do the degree that they want me to do. instead... well... i guess they'll try and force me to full fee pay it, then. i do understand that (as always in this studpid f*ck*ng country) it is not at all not even a little bit about the money. it is about every f*ck*ng thing else. it is about their fuckin idiocy and stupidity and f*ck*ng controllingness that they can not compute anything different from themselves.

the examiners did the best they could do in the circumstances. they need to come up with substantive changes, of course, becase there needs to be substantive difference between a masters and a doctoral thesis. they don't have any option in that given the template they were sent by teh univesrity. i mean... i guess they could have requested the university send them the proper template...

ffs...

this is why the NZ univesrities won't have any externals willing to examine our studnets work, at this rate...

then when it comes to the recommendation form... one of them didn't fill it out. why should they? the calendar regulations say teh outcome of the masters (what they were paid to examine) depends on reports. not recommendation. reports. they are examinign a masters thesis. they weren't paid to fill out the report form. teh other one...

well the options are...

that is is accepted without changes. but clearly the masters thesis that i submitted cannot be accepted without changes as a doctoral thesis. because it is 50,000 words too short.

and again for minor changes. and again for substantive changes to be completed within 10 weeks... a 3 year doctoral thesis cannot be magicked out of a 1 year masters thesis with an additional 10 weeks of work...

so the examiner had little choice to say that for my masters thesis to be accepted as a doctoral thessi i would have to re-enrol for 6 months.

the university calendar says, under doctoral enrolment, that a candidate who is enrolled in a masters thesis may re-enrol in a doctoral thesis if the dean believes they can or similar. so the examiner thought they were recommending i re-enrol i teh doctoral program.

teh dean thinks this means she can FORCE me to re-enrol.

it's all just very...

stupid.

and wrong.

and entirely undermining of our university system.

they should not be allowed to enrol international students. they don't process the students work.

they don't sign the studnets off.

they don't do any of the things that they are supposed to do.

f*ck*ng useless f*ck*ng idiots.

close them down.

and the universities think that i have made 'insufficient progress' if i don't progress in the way they want me to.

which is to say enrol in the degree of THEIR choosing and complete it quickly quickly quickly as possible.

they actually think that that's the idea. like, you know you sneeze or shoot some sperm and then it's a race to see who flies the furtherest the fastest and that's the winner!

so there's a hierarchy of subjects depending on which has the hardest / most stringent requirements from school. so arts is the least competititve etc. and you are REQUIRED to enrol in the 'hardest' subject you can. you are REQUIRED. do you understnd. the university REQUIRES it of you.

and they pick the studnets they want to do that. out of the studnets who were compelled to apply.

then you get through that... and the capstone course is where they decide of the cohort who will go where. who will to go honors and in what subject and the like.

and ditto for PhD. and who the supervisor will be.

of course.

and any deviation from that will not be processed / is not computed, really.

well... i mean the university will take your money, don't get me wrong. there are a bunch of things that have been introduced / developed / whatever for non-traditional studnets. and these are the kinds of classes and courses and programmes that the academics laugh about behind closed doors.

and that's the way of it.

that's what our tertiary edcuation system looks like.

medicine was never about those people having an edcuation. they were picked out to not have an education. they were picked out from school for a vocational training scheme or program that would have them be gps in their community. 'there there feel better there's nothing i can do'. in a system where pharmac purchases very little medication. where midwives take care of child births. where pathologists take care of autopsys insofar as they are done at all. where there are funeral directors. it's a social standing kind of a thing to do. nominally.

and then the development of that was graduate studnets who have done 3 years of university science. maybe they force them to do honors first. maybe they force them to do a phd. i don't think so. i don't think they were taking post-phd people. they take an average of 10 years or something to sign their stunets out the end of a phd program. they don' tsign the stuents odd.

they don't get their work to examiners.

they say the reports of examiners are copy right to the university and do not release the reports to the studnets.

they say whether the studnets have done enough for their degree is determined by teh students supervsiory panel. the externals play little to no role actually.

the supervisory panel...

has likely contracted out all their teaching to that phd student. cheapest teaching assistant ever. is likely got that studnet doing a bunch of laboratory owrk for htem. maybe even supervisoring or minding or writing work for other studnets. other phd studnets or masters studnets or honors students or summer research undergraduate students...

there is no way through in nz. not really.

i remember back when i was an undergrad first time around. people saying about dead wood. underproducing peple who ruled with an iron fist and ensured the people were held back indefeinately.

nothing has changed.

a few retired.

and a few new idiots were hired to take their place.

often people from overseas. a few locals.

but hired to join tehm. hired to keep up the tradition.

hired to ensure things only got worse and never better.

only hired to ensure that nz would develop backwards if at all possible. or if forwards only at the very very slowest of the very very slow must snails pace we could possibly manage with so many overpaid idiots dragging their f*ck*ng heels...

and how to get that to people who traditionally didn't have access?

how to get maori and pacfic islanders and disabled people all equitably involved in being part of that process??

that's the agenda. that's what it's about.

how we can equitably choose which courses the maori kids are allowed to do. and the pacific kids. which of the disabled kids can say 'there there there's nothing i can do awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel better'.

and coronavirus changed that irrevokably.

nobody would go to see their gp.

so the gps were required to offer zoom chat consultations.

the gps even offered some free zoom chat consultations -- because people wouldn't see them.

because their offices emptied out.

all the bargaining power / leverage that the gps were used to. that the gps thought they had. constantly crying for more money. saying that more people wanted to see them than they could see.

blown out of the water.

the problem of transporting yourself to your gp.

blown out of the water.

the rationale for having gps actually located in rural communities.

blown out of the water.

why do we need rural gps?

blown out of the water.

and what is it that you do exactly anyway?

are you screening people for cancer?

no.

are you swabbing people for labs?

no.

are you referring to specialists? can you do that online?

are you writing people a note for their employer to say they are sick?

ffs

can you take a focused history? comprehensive-like?
can you do a physical exam?

can you show that to zoom chat so the people understand what they are paying for when they pay for a consultation?

can you show us what it is that you teach your studnets exactly, with respect to that online?

(do you wash your hands between patient encounters? do you steralise your stethescope? do you ask permission before grabbing?)

so let me guess...

i don't get to learn because the don't want to expose the ignorance of the teachers.

the fact that there's nobody home in nz.

i know there's nobody home in nz.

i've known that for quite some time.

that's why it's so f*ck*ng insulting that you didn't choose to get me through more quickly when i applied howver many f*ck*ng years ago...

well before i discovered the learning materials myself.

the content myself.

that all you people paid to teach it won't / can't learn for yourself by yourself so you could actually f*ck*ng get on with teaching it.
