i don't care

Posted by alexandra_k on January 3, 2020, at 21:53:11

i don't care if you read my thesis and feel embarrassed to be associated with it.

i don't care.

because i'm forced to live in your substandard houses.

that's how you lot chose to invest in me.

i don't care.
i don't care.
i do not care about you.

but i have this capacity to do my f*ck*ng job.

and it isn't your job to not sign me off because of how you feel.

at no place in the regulations does it say that the university is only required to accept a thesis if it 'feels like it'

ffs

Can you afford a drink?

I particularly like drinking in the cold.

We are about 2C up from usual.

Something awful will happen eventually, maybe 100,00 gone, not to speak of anything other than people. What are the lines from
Lear?

If that the heavens do not their visible spirits
Send quickly down to tame these vile offenses,
It will come:
Humanity must perforce prey on itself
Like monsters of the deep.

Even that is wrong. It isn't vile, it is vild.

Sometimes I can afford a drink. Not right now... It is better for me not to, otherwise I develop a bit of a habit of it. Not an alcohol problem, just a creature of habit problem.

I used to particularly like drinking in the bath. When it was cold, I mean. Cold day. Hot bath. Cold beer. Or ice cream. Ice cream in the bath is pretty good, too. But I don't have a bath, anymore.

Ice cream! Or dark chocolate. Do you like chocolate?

The holiday season is not great for my health. All of these opened bottles of spirits staring at me. My hand doesn't ask permission, it just reaches out, opens the screw top and I swallow it. (Minor frights like friends and family arriving.) We are of one mind at that point. Around 2am my hand and mind are no longer friends. Tequila and vodka are great, everything else is acceptable.

For baths I need one with lower back support, maybe a neck cushion, and lots of water. to fill it

Wellington is very good for crafted beers. I'm sure you can buy chocolate beer there. Or just put cacao nibs into the wort.

I've heard of chocolate stout (pretty sure on this).

I love crafter beers (some, not all. many are too hoppy). It makes me feel bad the next day. Can't drink anymore. Skipped my Christmas Bailey's :(

Yes, it's a bit tedious, isn't it.

I'm not sure what I would do without alcohol at Christmas.

We went to Japan once. They still had Christmas but we didn't know anyone.

Australians can drink like Russians. I saw A Russian film once. Whole families went out hunting and drinking. A woman might say, 'I'm not drinking today and down half a glass of vodka'.

When I drink I'm an extrovert which is nice for a party. I'm a happy drunk. Lyrica makes me stupid. Not having a social drug is tedious indeed.

"Stalker" (no matches art Amazon!) starts with something like......

'Following the incident the scene was ringed by armed police. After they disappeared a more distant cordon was established by the army'.

One morning someone dishevelled walks into a room (of also dishevelled scientists). One in the room says, 'You've been drinking'. The newcomer says, 'Like half of Russia I have had a vodka with breakfast. The other half is already dead drunk.'

I like chocolate -- but it is fairly difficult to find in these parts. It is all sugar and milk powder and additives and preservatives and flavors and may contain traces of coco.

Beer has gone much the same way, unfortunately. If beer is in fact microbrewed it doesn't stay microbrewed for long. It gets brought out by lion nathan and gets 'brewed' in a big chemical vat in Tamaki, Auckland, same as everything else, before long.

I don't really see anything microbrewed around here, in the local liquor shops or supermarkets. Just the same old same old same old.

I used to enjoy chocolate stout, occasionally, from the Wig and Pen in Canberra. They were a microbrew. Brewed on site. They brewed some pretty good beers.

I don't mind hoppy so long as it isn't bitter. For quite some time I thought that I didn't like hoppy beer becauase it was bitter -- but hops are fragrant and bitter is something else.

I quite like amber ales. Or pale ales if they are flavorful. Not keen on bitter beers, though.

I did use to quite enjoy baileys...

I have been meaning to / thinking about making ice-cream.

Something rather odd has happened, in New Zealand. It is like the public health people have finally done something right and they are trying to help consumers develop a bit of an aversion to meat / dairy through some sort of subversive anti-marketing campaign. Making those things seem slightly repulsive. Marketing vegetarian / vegan stuff quite a bit more. Part of that... Ice cream is next to impossible to find, too. It's all whipped sugar and emulsifiers.

I want to try and make ice-cream myself. Properly. With the egg yolk custard. When I was a kid there was a Mooloo Ice Cream Factory, and, well, I am from the Waikato (maybe the dairy capital of the world) and I remember the ice cream was pretty good... At least I thought it was when I was a kid. I remember something something about egg yolks to make it creamy... So anyway, I'd like to try making ice-cream 'properly', myself.

Not sure what to flavor it with. Maybe dutch cocoa??

Perhaps.
