Texas License Plates?

Posted by fayeroe on December 18, 2008, at 22:25:30

Governor Perry, Texas, is backing a license plate that says "choose life" and has an image of children in the background. He just made a statement that it was definitely "pro-life".

I can't see this. It failed during the last legislative session. That is too close to religion for my taste. He is really pushing it.

That's great that he cares so much about kids.

I couldn't find anything on his attitude to the children of Iraq, but thought this at least was (mildly) encouraging

>Tyrone Brown was an African-American who was sentenced to life in a Texas maximum security prison in 1990 for smoking marijuana while on probation. Texas Judge Keith Dean had originally placed Brown on probation but changed the sentence after Brown tested positive for marijuana. After being defeated in the last Dallas election, Judge Dean requested the governor pardon Brown. On March 9, 2007, Perry, upon approval of the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, granted Brown a conditional pardon (under Texas law Perry cannot grant pardons without the Board's consent).[26]

But I did find this

>When the president honored United Nations Day last week in a routine annual resolution and then asked state governors to follow suit, for example, (uncivil descriptor) Texas Gov. Rick Perry refused to sign the symbolic proclamation.

I'm worried about the president, although that was from 2004.
Then again I was worried about him then.

Should this be on the Politics Board?

I think I've done it before but I don't remember it. I wish my memory was this selective when it comes to all sorts of bad stuff.

I just sent you a really good image of the Gov.
