Are there any moderator type things that need to be set up? Or is this framework I put together sufficient as it is?

Darned if I know. Last time Dr. Bob just set one up and sent an invitation only to those who have said they're going.

Oh. Okay. Well, it didn't cost me much trouble to do that. I guess it's just time to start pulling this thing together.

Here's a list of restaurants:

Baroli Caffe
Baton Rouge
City Grill
Duke of Richmond
Eggspectation
J.J. Muggs
McDonald's
Mr. Greenjeans

I've been to most of them. Mr Greenjeans is a good place for a large-ish group of people, and it's been there since the Centre opened. Both ends of the Eaton Center have subway stops along the Yonge Street line.

City Halls (old and new) are one street over from Queen and Yonge Streets. Continue wandering along Queen Street and the walk becomes perfect for people watching (and shopping. and eating).

I'm sorry I won't be able to go. I have conflicting travel plans - I'll be driving across the US with my sister, and won't get to Toronto until a week after the meeting!

Oh.. Mr Greenjeans!! Thats the first place I had bruschetta *g*

We stayed in the Eaton Marriot for 15 days, and so had our own little entrance into the Eaton Centre.. it felt like my *own* shopping centre *grins*

Don't be scared about going

I realize now that I've been getting way too excited about the trip. I brainstormed some pretty wild ideas. I just want to say don't be scared. We're not going to do everything I want to do and we'll have time to relax. You will have time alone to rest and do whatever you want. We can just sit and chat. We don't have to go to every museum and attraction.

Are you angry with me?

I'm staying at a hostel. It's $29 CAD a night.

Nevermind. Sorry about asking. (nm)

Thanks for the reminder, I've been busy...

The Social and Behavioral Sciences IRB determined earlier this month that this workshop does not in itself constitute research and so does not require review and approval by the IRB. But a systematic investigation designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge based on the workshop would be considered research subject to review and approval by the IRB.

I don't know if this matters to anyone, but FYI, I think the "owner" of a Yahoo Group has access to the email addresses of its members. If everyone's comfortable with a poster in that position, that's fine with me, but if anyone would prefer, I'd be happy to set up another one myself...

I didn't know that. I'll shut that one down. It's better, I think, if you handled it again. Why fix what ain't broke?

Sorry. I started with ClearSkys because I know she knows the area. Then added Lar 'cause I know he's already booked - then added poet and falls 'cause I already met them - and then ran out of space.

No offense - I did a hostel once a few years ago. I think I'm too old for that.

Sorry, AuntieMel - I only know about prickly family members' homes as places to stay in the area. You'd think I would have checked into a hotel years ago while visiting but <bangs head against wall>

Generally speaking, the farther from downtown, the less expensive a hotel should be. As long as there is a subway stop close by, though, you shouldn't find it an inconvenience. Stay away from accommodations near the airport; wayyyy too far to travel.

None taken. :-)

This is going to be my first hostel experience. I hope it will be OK. Should I bring my own linen and towels? I'm pretty sure I need to bring my own soap and shampoo. On the plus side, they do serve a pancake breakfast! :-)

I think I did bring sheets and towel. You might want to check. They're all different.

The one I stayed in was in Switzerland, so who knows if it's like the ones over here.

Dr. Bob, in the program schedule one of the lectures has David Suzuki as one of the lecturers. Is it *the* David Suzuki? OMG. Is it *the* David Suzuki? He's like one of the greatest Canadians who ever lived.

It's on Monday in our time slot. :-( :-(

Is anyone besides me interested in attending the other workshops? I don't want to be alone. Are we all going to do something fun after our workshop?

Dr. Bob, when are you going to join us in fun?

Dr. Bob, am I going to stand out in the crowd? Will I look like I don't belong? Dr. Bob, I don't feel grown-up. What if I can't act like a mature person?

I'm going to do what Dr. Bob wants me to do, focus more on making the trip a fun experience for all rather than just focusing on Dr. Bob.

I'm going to think about different things we can do. I'll do some research on this.

I can't wait for the trip! It'll be so cool. :-)

Well, two things, actually.

{shhhh....don't tell, but.....} I made my reservations, and now I'm scared and doubting my decision a little. Not too much, just some. Like should I really do this? What if people don't like the IRL 10der? What if I act like a nervous dork? On the other hand, I'm very excited and Toronto looks so beautiful and interesting (only been to Canada once when I was 15, and only for 2 days)!

Second thing - I just got a *feeling* you wanted to post something new on this thread....am I right? ;-)
