Anxiety meds for GAD

Can someone recommend some good anxiety meds for GAD? Currently taking Zoloft 100 mg a day and Clonazepam 1 mg a day with no luck.

Have you tried pregabalin? It's used as an adjunct. I've had great luck with it. Here's a citation that might be helpful. I don't know if the US has changed, but at the time, pregabalin for GAD was not an important treatment option.

Good luck!

I think you need to go to someone who specializes in anxiety disorders. GAD is not my forte. Sometimes an SSRI does the trick. I don't know anyone for whom Lyica or Neurontin has produced a stable improvement indefinitely, but my observations are little better than worthless.

I'm afraid to give anyone recommendations for an addictive substance. However, I suspect that Xanax (alprazolam) is probably the best among the benzodiazepines. However, it is the most addictive. It might be the answer for you, though. If Xanax washes away your anxiety, and you don't build up a tolerance for it that requires constant dosage escalation, who cares about addiction if it works? You will likely have to take something for the rest of your life, anyway. There are extended-release preparations.

SLS

hey, i wanted to say Librium is exelllant for GAD. It's a weak benzo, but i took it in psych, i was on 200mg, which was 2 capsules 4 times daily. It took my anxiety of general away, but it takes a long time to work, it's not good for panic attacks because it takes too long as is not as potent as alprazolam. I just felt a light feeling of relief. It's diffrent than other benzo's but Librium was the very 1st benzo to come out. In 1961, the first benzo. They used it for detox, and for a while it didnt work because my GABA receptors were effed up by phenibut. In the psych i told them phenibut, they didnt listen and they wrote in report that i was taking phenobarbital use. That's the reason they skyrocked librium, because they got confused and thought i was withdrawing from phenobarbital.

Anywaays, i just wanted to say that. Librium is good for general anxiety

Watch out for Aloradine. It hasn't made it yet, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Phase III ongoing, the results should be there soon. I won't take it the second it comes out though. I wouldn't feel comfortable that way. I wan't to know more certainly that it is not addictive. I found Passionflower and Melissa are kind of cool, but can interact with meds. So definitely check out if yours are ok with these.
