Nicotinic Acid/Niacinamide

Posted by Lamdage22 on January 25, 2021, at 8:04:39

Hey guys, I read about the good effects on schizophreia and depression + Dyskinesia. My experiment with 4x500 mg a day Niacinamide ended in deep depression. Maybe it was a Herxheimer reaction? I am thinking about using an extended release 500mg product. What are your experiences with this stuff?

i dunno why it would make you depressed, but its helped me. that doesn't negate your experience, obviously.

i aim for 3 grams/daily. I take it with a b-100 tablet and 2x as much C per dose (2-3 doses per day).

also, a multi is necessary. i take natural form E, 1000 IU for td-prevention (fingers crossed).

I think it helps, over time. and it helps in a different way than the drugs...i don't feel more apathetic which apparently somehow is supposed to = "better," nor do I feel stimulated (again: somehow this= "better"), I just feel...

well, better. less misery, more normalcy. life goes on.

I am thinking to try 500mg Niacinamide extended release. Thats a quarter of the dose that I tried!

I generally react badly to substances that are touted to detox the body. Now I am on SAG (S-Acetyl-Glutathione). I hope I will react well. Some say it makes them euphoric after a week. I wonder If I shall retry Niacinamide at the lower dosage in a few weeks.

i added things to the usual Orthomolecular protocol for "The Schizophrenias," as Hoffer termed the mental afflictions...

to accelerate the detox, basically. lots of alpha lipoic acid, extra vitamin C, green tea extract, taurine. ugh. no lie, I was -vomiting- , at random (not fun!), but...

then it was over, and I went to a more standard, DIY protocol. relatively smooth sailing, these days.

I once used a 1500mgs/time release tablet. I didn't know there was a 500mgs/time release tablet on the market. I guess...well, now I know. lol. :-)

I hope it works out well for you.

Sounds unhealthy. I am possibly seeing early effects of SAG (S-Acetyl-Glutathione). I have been up since 5am. For me, getting up earlier is often a sign that an antidepressant is going to work. I would call my depression atypical. The "sleep alot" type. I went to sleep at 09:30 PM.

What do you consider regular doses? Actually, I don't want to use megadoses here because it made me worse at 2000mg/day. I want to do something to lower my tardive dyskinesia risk. I am getting 160mg as of now from multivitamin and B Complex.

I'd say up to the dose you get from a strong multivitamin.

Might help protect against dyskinesia though, which you need if you are taking neuroleptics-

Herx/Healing crisis?

EVERY supplement that detoxes you makes me worse. Now S-Acetyl-Gluathione. It cant be a coincidence! Stick with it this time? Probably a Herx/Healing Crisis?

my completely unprofessional, wild guess would be that you should maybe seek out information on how to gradually build up dosages with these supplements, maybe look at information on patient-centered forums (maybe surviving antidepressants? benzo buddies?), and go from there...

and, of course (wait for it, wait for it...) check out Orthomolecular protocols to see if something just might -fit-, just...start low, go slow, in terms of dosage. maybe?

please don't take this as anything remotely resembling 'professional' advice. its just what makes sense, intuitively. :-)

Well professional advice says there is no such thing as toxins in the body. Or something along these lines, which is complete b*llsh*t. Thinking about going to an alternative practitioner or something. Some guidance would be awesome. I need deadlines. I cant be taking stuff that makes me worse for many months, right? At some point they should help.

Maybe it has to get worse before it can get better?

Maybe the toxins need to be mobilised before the can get excreted? If so, maybe the increased concentrations in the blood stream make you feel worse?

What is Herx?

Herx is the reaction that you described. A temporary worsening before it gets better. Mobilization of toxins. I just think it is noteworthy that detoxing agents without fail produce the exact symptoms I am trying to treat although they are supposed to help with those symptoms.

Safran: Anxiety
MSM: Anxiety
CBD: Anxiety
Niacinamid: Depression
S-Acetyl-Glutathion: Fatigue

That is what I surmise.
