Seroquel: 800-)700-)650=Depression?

Posted by Lamdage22 on January 14, 2021, at 12:25:51

Could it be that I am more depressed on 650 than on 800? Maybe I should reduce Zyprexa then and raise the Seroquel again. Seroquel is more antidepressant than Zyprexa, right?

that happened to me when my dosage was reduced a bit.

i think reducing zyprexa and then increasing the seroquel a bit is a viable option. zyprexa is regarded as 2nd most effective, behind clozapine, but i think seroquel has a better eps and td profile. could be mistaken, of course.

I thought that the use in (bipolar) depression was just marketing from Astra Zeneca. I am beginning to consider that it is not. Yeah I too heard that the eps and td risk of Seroquel is lower. Seroquel has more cognitive side effects although I think that they slowly wear off. Zyprexa is worse metabolically, with eps/td and it makes me lazier than Seroquel. Sounds like Seroquel is a better option to hold onto. I was thinking going 25->20 with the Zyprexa and 650->800 with Serouel. Maybe not all at once. Maybe one step in between to adjust!

Are you on Seroquel XR, or regular. I loved Seroquel XR way ,more than regular Seroquel. Way less side effects, less sedation, etc. Ever tried the XL?

I take both. Immediate release at night, XR during daytime.

from my experience, seroquel - serozoned me out, i used to take 600mg at night, with 10mg olazipine. Seroquel got discontined and went back up to 20mg, personally zyprexa i think has more antidepressant properties. But seroquel is advertised for depression though

I think Seroquel has D1 partial receptor agonism. I was just on Seroquel a short while, but I found, in the begining, Seroquel made me very, very grumpy in the morning. (after taking ir Seroquel at night.) Other times, though I was fine. Mind you, I was combining Seroquel with Risperdal, Zyprexa, Nozinan. It worked really good sometimes, others, meh..
Just my experience.

Yeah, I guess for most people, Seroquel is more of an antidepressant than Zyprexa. If Zyprexa was better, Lilly would probably market it for depression, right?

This morning I studied. My Psychologist is keeping an eye on it now. I need some pressure and control. The fact that I am not physically going to university doesn't make it easier. Nobody says: Do this until then!

Its a long road to the degree! But this is what keeps me sane. Something to wake up for in the morning.

seroquel for some reason when i take it, i feel diffrnt reality feeling, it's sedating and well i guess you have to get used to it, but when i took serouel 600mg at night, i felt diffrent (not pharmocology diffrent) but felt reality had a diffrent feeling. But seroquel, oh yes is major advertised for bipolar depression treatment, zyprexa the only thing they say it works is when its combined with Prozac, which makes treatment resistant depression better. I take Prozac and zyprexa, but mainly lamtragine is something to look forward too in the morning stablize things out

Symbax - fluoxetine + olanzipine = treatment resistant depression

but i still get depressed as hell, even on prozac and lamictal, but lamictal i look forward to it because it makes feel stable, instead of all over the place

Well my Psychologist is applying some gentle pressure, which kind of works. For that reason I didn't talk to my psychiatrist yet. I was just too lazy to study, not too lazy for other tasks. Maybe the notion that you pop a certain pill and it turns you into a productive member of society is delusional.

yeah i was just responding because you said seroquel helps, Seroquel is strong med, really it is....i never understood how it treats depression because it made me depressed, not in natural way but in chemical (block nuerotransmitters) but zyprexa is potent too, but it's less causing to cause serozoned feeling, and chemical induced depression. But it's advertised to treat bipolar depression, in ads, in psychiatric manuels, yeah i just don't get how it treats depression, maybe have to get used to it

just...jumping in here...

i couldn't deal with seroquel. back when i briefly tried it, there wasn't an xr on the market. so...2x daily dosing, very sedating, and...no. no, no, no. i remember once, the dosage had maybe gotten up to 100mgs, I just started crying, so miserable.

but its kind of...6 of 1, 1/2 dozen the other, with the 'atypical' neuroleptics, i think. on abilify, i don't have that -sort- of drug-induced misery, but it hasn't been without mind-numbing, mood-dampening effects, either.

i think the scary thing about abilify is that the drug-induced depression can kind of sneak up on you, and it does so without heavy sedation or any obvious EPS (for me, at least).

zyprexa was a no go for me, because i somehow developed akathisia off a low starting dose, but it does seem effective for lots and lots of people. there's a new zyprexa plus something combo pill coming out...i think the idea is that the 2nd 'magical ingredient' reduces metabolic risks, i think its supposed to boost results in psych state, also, maybe?

i dunno. i think the sedation from seroquel is part of what drives its ongoing popularity among prescribers. i kind of wonder, though...for those of us with more schizophrenia-spectrum and/or more severe end of mood - spectrum disorders, if its that great of a drug option. my current prescriber briefly brought up a switch to seroquel, but said i'd need 600-800mgs/daily for 'symptom control,' and I'm thinking...

seriously?!?! 'symptom control' or 'patient control' ? i stuck with the abilify.
