Anyone else on Methadone????? I am on 12mg's....a very small dose. Most people start at 40mg'd. What dose are you on? I have been on 2 months...and it's even helped level out my depression and especially, my anxiety..MAJORLY..I used to get in some physical fights it was soooo bad.
I used pills, no needles. But, by recently,,,I was taking handfuls of pills..percs, T3's, Oxy....using up my student loan..no money for food :(
But, I feel quite great after 2 months of methadone! Better than any current psych med. I currently only take only effexor, 75mg'mgs, and Vyvanse for my ADD. The methadone does most of the work.

that's good to hear about methadone, i've never taken it, and i know about methadone clinics, and buprinorphine doctors

Well, I partly agree. But 12mg is not insignificant. Preserve the benefits as best you can by not increasing the dose quickly. People on high doses (>60mg) are not well, the sweating is awful, the muddy feeling intense. I never found a dose of it better than 17.5-22.5mg/d.
There is no good reason for starting at 40. That is just about population management.

I think 40 mg is the starting dose for opioid (eg. heroin) addicts. If you don't have tolerance, 40 mg may be too high. In excess, opioids can suppress breathing -- obviously a potentially dangerous effect.

The subjective effect, that which comes one hour after dosing, depends on the variability of the concentration minus your tolerance. My feeling is that the curve is flatter at higher doses, the half-life being effectively longer, and then most of the effect gone through tolerance.
Given my biochem 20 was a pretty good compromise.
It is not easy to give up the last little bit, from 10 to zero.
