Probably the only reason aripiprazole sometimes works for depression is that it acts primarily as a dopamine direct agonist at low doses. I strongly recommend you try pramipexole instead, because it acts as an agonist at all doses.

Indeed, pramipexole is the only drug I ever tried that was (temporarily) effective against anhedonia.

Pramipexole sure is interesting, but difficult to come by... most doctors especially in Germany are afraid of full dopamine agonists ^^

Imho Aripiprazole is interesting because it is pro-dopaminergic at low dosages (2 mg) and it exhibits 5HT2-antagonist-properties AND it isn't a strong antihistamine. But yeah, your mileage may vary.

Low dosage of Olanzapine is also interesting, but strong antihistamine... ^^

What is your current regimen?

It's completely normal to feel drowsy when starting nortriptyline, even at low doses.

You're going to have to give it a couple of weeks to see whether it wears off.

Thanks. I will do that! ;=)

Did you take Nortriptyline and or Amitriptyline in the past?

Sulpiride 150 mg, clozapine 350 mg, cariprazine 1.5 mg, lamotrigine 200 mg, and most importantly, trimipramine 150 mg.

Clozapine is particularly useless in my experience. Sulpiride was even better than a stimulant when I first tried it, but this effect disappeared after some week or so. Cariprazine may be slightly activating, and I recommend it over aripiprazole. Lamotrigine seems to do nothing. Trimipramine is the best drug I've ever tried that is classified as an antidepressant.

That is interesting. Many people are quite satisfied with Trimipramine albeit it doesn't exhibit any Reuptake-Properties...

F*CK knows how these drugs work O_o

Nortriptyline can be constipating yeah, take a stool softener.

And yes, I've taken amitriptyline.

It was too anticholinergic, although the drowsiness does reduce over time.

Typically, nortriptyline is more tolerable.

Not sure what to make of it.

One the one hand, it kinda gives me a motivational push, but on the other hand I feel dysphoric and "out of it". It also f*cks with my teeth enamel...

Interesting and somewhat paradoxal. I am continuing the test.

I bought a high concentrated fluoride toothpaste. Hope it will help to counter negative effects.

Some (eg. the holistic medicine proponents) say that fluoride can have adverse effects, notably on intelligence. I'd use xylitol and/or baking soda.

That said, I use flouride toothpaste myself, because of inertia (I'm too lazy and/or apathetic to arrange for better alternatives).

Nortriptyline seems to make my "OCD" worse xD I've been obsessing about stupid stuff and was kinda anxious. NRIs do that? Generally speaking?

Although I am unsure if the worsening of OCDish features causes the anxiety or the other way around... sometimes it is difficult to distinguish

Yesterday...It was 23:30 PM... I still had 15 liters of fuel n my car-tank, but wanted to fill it up... first gas station was closed, the second one was too expensive, the third one was closing.... the forth too expensive, the fifth... closed and so on....I drove through half of Hamburg until I finally found a cheap open gas station....

totally obsessive and dumb... I surely made 35km and an hour of driving xD

That's what NTP does to me... but I am unsure which component causes it.

Presumably NRIs can cause agitation, anxiety, headache, restlessness and OCDish like side effects, but not sure ^^

Up to 25mg. My anxiety and agitation is definitely up. Feeling edgy and jumpy...

Weight has gone down. Shakiness and tremor has gone up.

Motivation has gone up. Wastefulness has gone up.

Dry mouth got somewhat better. Actually a dry sore throat is the bigger problem.

I was at the dentist and he prescribed special drops to stimulate salvia production and release.

Pilocarpine solution and Anethole trithione dragées. I did get both.

I knew about pilocarpine, but anethole trithione is new to me.

I've always been a rather edgy and jumpy person, agitated with high motor restlessness. In fight or flight mode all the time. Tunnel vision. What I find interesting: Nortriptyline seems to make it worse.

I've always thought that my problem might be a lowish level of Noradrenaline, maybe some form of ADHD, but right now I think that it might exactly the opposite: too much Noradrenaline. Would at least explain my scrawny body.

Maybe some form of Noradrenaline producing "benign" tumour?
