Italian researchers recommend studying a combination of antidepressants and the probiotic Lactobacillus plantarum (L. plantarum) HEAL9 as a treatment for depression. In a recently published study, it was found that a combination of SAMe and L. plantarum HEAL9 brought about "significant reductions in depression, anxiety, and cognitive symptoms as early as 2 weeks following treatment initiation." The Italians believe that a combination of antidepressants and HEAL9 might have the same effect.

I would have liked the study without SAMe. SAMe can be really nasty for certain people. I heard that probiotics can actually cause a bacteria imbalance. Maybe prebiotics are better?

It's a fascinating subject because the human microbiome is so remarkably complex and so little is known about it. I've tried lots of probiotics and prebiotics. Lately, to reduce harmful bacteria, I've been eating cucumber and drinking dill weed tea every day, since both of these are antibacterial.

If there was no infection risk, I would get a happy and healthy persons fecal transplant in a heartbeat.

But no one can make any money with stuff like that. The mental health industry is not altruistic at all.

Hey guys, hope y'all are having a good one (as possible).
I am contemplating this. How natural is it? Does that bacterium exist in nature? I would greatly appreciate any insight. Just wonder how safe it is as always. Once burnt...
