Has anyone here had COVID? Mental health changes?

Posted by PeterMartin on August 5, 2020, at 9:44:59

There are some reports that COVID19 can lead to lingering effects in those who have "Recovered".

Curious if anyone here has had the virus and (hopefully) recovered. Are you still experiencing any mental health related symptoms? Fatigue/brain fog/anxiety/depression? If so have any of your psych meds helped?

Hope everyone is well.

From inflammation, perhaps of the brain?

This is the study I had read (published August 3):

Cerebral Micro-Structural Changes in COVID-19 Patients An MRI-based 3-month Follow-up Study

Abstract
==
Increasing evidence supported the possible neuro-invasion potential of SARS-CoV-2. However, no studies were conducted to explore the existence of the micro-structural changes in the central nervous system after infection. We aimed to identify the existence of potential brain micro-structural changes related to SARS-CoV-2.
Methods
In this prospective study, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and 3D high-resolution T1WI sequences were acquired in 60 recovered COVID-19 patients (56.67% male; age: 44.10 ± 16.00) and 39 age- and sex-matched non-COVID-19 controls (56.41% male; age: 45.88 ± 13.90). Registered fractional anisotropy (FA), mean diffusivity (MD), axial diffusivity (AD), and radial diffusivity (RD) were quantified for DTI, and an index score system was introduced. Regional volumes derived from Voxel-based Morphometry (VBM) and DTI metrics were compared using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Two sample t-test and Spearman correlation were conducted to assess the relationships among imaging indices, index scores and clinical information.

Findings
==
In this follow-up stage, neurological symptoms were presented in 55% COVID-19 patients. COVID-19 patients had statistically significantly higher bilateral gray matter volumes (GMV) in olfactory cortices, hippocampi, insulas, left Rolandic operculum, left Heschl's gyrus and right cingulate gyrus and a general decline of MD, AD, RD accompanied with an increase of FA in white matter, especially AD in the right CR, EC and SFF, and MD in SFF compared with non-COVID-19 volunteers (corrected p value <0.05). Global GMV, GMVs in left Rolandic operculum, right cingulate, bilateral hippocampi, left Heschl's gyrus, and Global MD of WM were found to correlate with memory loss (p value <0.05). GMVs in the right cingulate gyrus and left hippocampus were related to smell loss (p value <0.05). MD-GM score, global GMV, and GMV in right cingulate gyrus were correlated with LDH level (p value <0.05).

Interpretation
=
Study findings revealed possible disruption to micro-structural and functional brain integrity in the recovery stages of COVID-19, suggesting the long-term consequences of SARS-CoV-2.

Firstly, I think the COVID 'thing' is a hoax. I'm not the only one.
I do not believe that nobody is getting ill from an infection, whether it is a virus or something else, but from what I've been seeing from afar, watching it all unfold and not being involved in it in any way, I do not believe there is a new 'novel' virus that has never met man before.

A quick example comes to mind: how easy would it be to 'choose' a new strain of a coronavirus which is known to mutate almost every year, and then call it COVID? Pretty darn easy I'd say. Then treat it like it is known NOT to be treated, mix it up with some Pneumonia (found in all hospitals - they're a breeding ground for it) and people drop like flies. But that didn't happen, did it(?). Then, they go literally 'crazy', as if in a mad rush to try this, that and the other in a desperate attempt to create a plan B. Nothing they do makes a bit of sense. You'd think they'd have a plan B, C and probably right up to Z plan, no?

Just look at people walking down an empty road with a fresh breeze in the air and wearing a mask. That is how easy it is to fool Joe public.

I have an advantage as I stopped watch crap in a box pre-2010.

I've not had a single second of worry, shop anywhere, everywhere. Don't use hand sanitizer (I need my germs), see transparency through everything related and can come up with endless easy possibilities that would explain it away. I've changed nothing in my routine, habits nor have I kept any unnecessary distance from anyone or anything. Admittedly, I did start taking Echinacea Angustifolia at 1st. And I mega dose lots of supps daily. I like to treat my self daily, and I receive back good general health for it. Not had an infection (which has made me ill) since I was 17, just before I started taking a multi and read tones of books on nutrition.

A power grab is what I DO see.

Forgive me, not an answer to the question at all. It's just so frustrating from my viewpoint that I can't NOT say something.

I do get sad for anyone who dies unnecessarily, so I have to watch what I say most of the time. But it is pure evil to tell a family that their loved one(s) died from a lie.

No ridicule and no offence intended.

(When I say them or they, I mean every string puppet currently governing a country, and who gave them that power? We all know who. Your neighbours, your friends, yourselves. I don't vote. I would if someone ever actually stood for freedom. How advanced are we when we are the only beings on the entire planet who have to PAY for food, water and shelter. The 3 things we need to exist. That or die? JEEZZ)

I'm sure there must be a COVID fansite somewhere who would be very happy to give you your answer. A million different answers.

Ok man. 160k dead.

Read https://old.reddit.com/r/COVID19positive

Sometime and comment over there that they're all faking it.

LeTs leave it at seeing it differently though. Best.

I'm not personally offended by your post, but I do find it offensive to intimate that the world's scientific community is faking the scourge of humanity right now. To minimize the danger is to make it infinitely more dangerous.

If SARS-CoV-2 is being exaggerated or the product of a conspiracy, what facts can you offer to corroborate you opinions?

You can certainly say anything you want, but others may do the same in response.

Obviously, I feel very strongly about this.

SARS-CoV-2 affects the brain in a perhaps irreversible way. I think brain fog and fatigue are the biggest complaints. I don't know about mood. It is significant that even the mildest of infections produce persistent impairments in cognition for months after the virus has cleared the body.

Stay safe and wear face masks. They really work!

I read that the tests for transmission from touch used 200 sneezes to survive on the surfaces tested.

Therefore masks. I didn't like my mask, but that was in Japan where they don't fight over toilet paper and it is better in a hundred ways.

Today's Guardian (fake news!) says that 6% of the UK population may have had covid already, which is a long way from 60% for herd immunity, for what that is worth, which isn't much.

I may have had the virus. I feel inexplicable fatigue and weight gain. How can I figure out if I had it?

FEVER.

Sore throat.

Difficulty breathing.

Fatigue.

* Loss of the sense of smell is pretty specific for COVID-19.

You can have an antibody test to determine whether or not you were infected in the past.

Thanks for responding. Yeah, I may get that test. My latest theory is that I feel bad because taking 10g EPA/DHA a day plummeted my Vitamin E levels. I wasn't aware that EPA/DHA can do this.

Fish oil always makes me feel like sh*t (if that means anything).

Hope you're ok.

Me too, but Algae Oil does not. Maybe its because Algae Oil has the natural Triglycerid form instead of the ethyl-ester form. Fish Oil is usually ethyl-ester unless otherwise specified.

People always talk about the COVID-19 death rate. There are things other than death, which you don't want either.
