acetaminophen and headaches

Posted by rjlockhart37 on April 4, 2020, at 0:05:26

strong headaches, i always usually take ibuprofen and acetaminophen together, at high doses. but acetaminophen is almost totally ineffective for severe headaches, even up 2000 mg. My usual med for severe headaches, is ibuprofen 600mg, and ace 1000mg

that kinda relieves, but by itself, it feels useless. I remember in the psych people had severe back pain, they gave them tylenol. Like giving an asprin for a broken spine. Weak properties.

aspirin is similar, but do notice some relief from severe headaches, but nothing like ibuprofen, which is the main killer for it.

advil + tylenol are my remedy for severe headaches, advil knocks the pain out most, but then tylenol scrubs up the rest. It's a great combination that has helped over the years without migraine medication. And plus some migraine medications are serotonin agonists, not to take with Prozac.

Be very careful about high doses of paracetamol (acetaminophen), it can damage the liver.

your right, both have impacts on kidneys, other functions in body... I just even if took 3000 mg of acetaminophen during a migraine or severe, it would hardly do anything. Tylenol is more minor stuff. Advil - tylenol is good for migraines, but i usually have to take 600mg ibuprofen, and 1000-1500 mg of tylenol. That usually swipes most of it out

rj, that's too much tylenol at once. There are also rebound headaches caused by high dose tylenol.

What are your headaches from? Sometimes a little caffeine can help.

don't have headaches often, sometimes it will be from tension, or stress. Or just some random thing it will pop up. The meds : 600 mg advil, and 2 maximum strength tylenol tablets, it works. 3000 acetaminophen mg is too much, damage to kidneys or etc.... i only did that one time during a migraine, and found it to be very ineffective. That's why tylenol does not work severe headaches, it has to combined it others. The prescription strength for Ibuprofen is 800mg. It's cheaper just buy Advil the name brand, and take 3 tablets = 600mg, it works, tylenol wipes out the background left over pain. 2 maximum strength is 500mg, and you can 2 tablets as it says on the bottle, for pain. But thing higher than that, it's risky. Take 2 maximum strength tylenol, then advil. Don't need a prescription for Imitrex or Maltex or migraine medication, plus there serotonin agonist, not work well with SSRIs

only do this when its bad, feels throbs most miserable feeling ever

I thought it was just the liver with paracetamol (acetaminophen), and with ibuprofen it's the stomach.

i got it backwards, tylenol is bad for for liver, and can cause liver damage, advil can cause kidney damage and i've heard ibuprofen is a little risky than tylenol in damaging kidneys. Someone in my family had a kidney disorder, constantly in pain, not sure what's called, but she told me or over heard that doctor said do not take ibuprofen during this time. Damage to the kidneys

But these combinations have no risk, because there not taken frequently, only when migraines happen
